Shortly after landing on an abandoned Imperial World, Shas'o Mal Caurl, received word from the Kor of another landing of the vile Chaos Space Marines on the other side of the city. After ordering an initial bombardment that leveled the middle of the city He sent his men into action. Rushing two squads of firewarriors into an abandoned warehouse and beside a tanker, he prepared for the Chaos onrush. Two drones accompanied the Shas'o with a broadside sweeped the field for chaos.

First kill went to the broadside who spotted a Chaos attack bike and permanently knocked it out of commision. Cheers of victory rose from the tow defenders who watched the mini-explosion set off by the bikes. On the opposing side, a dreadnought and 1 squads space marines and two more bikes advanced. The dreadnought used his lascannon on a Fire Warrior, ripping the brave soldier into incomprehensible shred. The bikes using their fast speed to race up to halfway across the Tau lines.

Missiles and pulse shot from the two Fire Warrior squads surged toward the bikes, but all failed to stop them. One of the bikes was wounded by a lucky shot from a missile. Within range, the broadside fired on a hapless squad ripping apart a marine. With chaos bikes screaming their infernal war cries and meltas and bolters blazing, 5 fire warriors were killed in the initial anslaught, driving the others off the playing field. Horrified at the enormous chunk of men driven off the field, but thankful that not all were killed, the Shas'o planned his revenge.

The entire Tau army focused on the bikes and completely destroyed the last two. With warcries and shouts of defiance, the Tau army regained its compsure and felt sure that victory was in their grasps. Using a building on the other side of town, the Chaos dreadnought had been carefully avoiding the range of broadside and its Valkryie call. The Chaos marines now let loose with their rocket launcher which killed 3 Fire Warriors. The dreadnought also let loose with its lascannons knocking out a drone. Still the Fire Warrior line held and the rocket launcher was now exposed. Commander Shas'o let loose with his missiles dropping more Chaos marines. The broadside manuevered to get a shot at the dreadnought and the Fire Warriors gave up their coverto get in range of the rocket launcher.

Back and forth, the volleys ran until the dreadnought made the mistake of getting in range of the broadside. With a loud explosion the hopes of teh chaos army was gone and the rest of the army fled. Without long range weapons and versus an army that could distance it, that was the only sane thing to do.

rather nice report. but how is it that the broadside was out of range? it seemed like you were playing on a rather small board and the rail gun is a 72" :D nice overall

the greater good shall prevail

well maybe there was terrain in the way of the broadsides line of fire

well as it stands in the battle report "Back and forth, the volleys ran until the dreadnought made the mistake of getting in range of the broadside."

then i wonderd how it was possible to be out of range when the weapon has pretty impressive range.

They cannot use attack bikes? He used attack bikes. Hmm ill have to ask him about that. And the only reason i couldn't his dreadnought was because of terrain. He would hide behind a building, use his weapons on the rest of my army, while out of sight of my broadside. It was frustrating.
