Anyone play Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear games?
They look cool, the mechs are the height of marines. I might start a force once my Hordes of CHaos are done.
Heres a link in case your interested.
Welcome to Dream Pod 9 Online!
I've played Heavy Gear off and on for years. I'm back to playing and the new rules "Locked and Loaded" are absolutely awesome.
I've even started a Blog for the repaint of my older minis. The Gear Garage
Here's a little more meat for those of you that do not know about the Heavy Gear universe. Which is awesome BTW.
Heavy Gear is a Mech combat Sci-Fi game with a focus on "Heavy Gears" they are roughly 15 foot tall armored suits that bridge the gap between conventional infantry and armored vehicles. Heavy Gears make up about half of each army list, the other half is filled with Tanks/AFV's, Infantry, Artillery and Aircraft.
One of the cool thing about HG is that unlike most Mech games infantry can actually kill a mech. This makes them very durable.
This seems interesting, I might ask a few people at our store about it and see what I can get going.
I can't really find any information on it though. How does it play? How many factions are there? Do they play differently? What's it all about?
Yes I have questions, lots of them, I'm picky about my war games lol.
Ok, Let me try and explain and epically fail
I think there are around 3-4 Factions, North, South and Peace River. Each has a different play style and of course different minis.
Heres a gallery of the Gears
Heavy Gear Blitz Miniatures Gallery
And one of the Gears and other stuff.
Ignore the fleet scale stuff.
Heres the games background
Heavy Gear, mechanized warfare and intrigue in the far future!

Damn the links! *Clicks away*
Alright from a looks perspective, I'm digging the south. I like the infantry models and idea of biker squads alongside the Mechs. Plus that Dragon Strider is pretty pimp.
Which rulebook is the rulebook though? The Locked and Loaded, or the one that just say's Rulebook?
Write up a BatRep or something Flames so I can get a good perspective, I need to see it in action before getting my store owner to go into this.
I'll give it a try soon then, see if it's cool or not and help you two crazy fools.
Those QS rules are from the last version of HG and only give a taste of the full rules. Kinda like a GW intro game in the shop.
I can do a batt rep but it'll be a couple of weeks as my gaming bud who plays HG is on vacation. It won't be pretty as we are just repainting our forces but it'll give you some insight on the game.
Here's something I just found on the DP9 site thats totally cool! Oh and this makes those GW life sized Space Marines look bad.
Yup, that's a life sized Heavy Gear Hunter!
Here's a Link to the DP9 page with more pics.
