Ok the lotr thread is getting really slow so lets stir things up, were gonna have "fluff battles" between different named heroes. Also incorperate game stats and such.
ill start things off.
The Fellowship vs The Balrog
This would be a toughy, aragorn auto-wounding on a 4+ would be nice but the balrog is a very tough customer. Then again if the balrog is on the bridge and you do a sorcerer's blast straight down breaking it, well then thats an instant kill.
If the Fellowship manage to trap the Balrog they might be able to kill it, but if the Balrog manages to roll a lot of 6's, 4 Attacks at S9 will obviously hurt a lot. Gandalf could try to Immobilise it, but the Balrog has 10 Will so it can easily resist magic. I'll have to motivate myself to do it a few times and see what happens.
How about Sauron vs Elendil and Gilgalad? I would think that they need to get to Sauron together (which is a feat in itself with Sauron's magic), to have any chance of stopping Sauron from hitting them with S8.
In that case all sauron has to do is win 1 fight, then use all of his attacks on Gilgalad, his 1 fate wont hold up and sauron will be the victor yeah! also, is this in the battle of the last alliance saying that sauron has the one ring? if so, sauron wins almost automatically.
The Fellowship vs The Balrog
The Terror of the Balrog will be it's best protection. The Fellowship must think twice before attacking it save ranged attacks. Gandalf can blast away with a number of spells trying to reduce wounds M/W/F. Legolas's arrows take an oddly crucial role much as the battle with the Cave Troll in the film. May the light of the Valar shine on Aragorn, Boromir and Gimli who have to go toe-to-toe with it. Thankfully, Aragorn had Anduril in the book and that will help him out. Hobbits are throwing stones.
Then again, how do break living rock with a blade or arrow. I'll get behind the line from the movie, "This foe is beyond any of you." Plus you have the rest of the quest of the Ring to complete. Victory to the Balrog and Evil should the Fellowship fight.
Sauron vs Elendil and Gil-galad
Again the Terror factor helps Sauron as it is possible to face one-hero at a time as the other gathers their courage. Then it is as posted above. A shear pummeling of the Good heros by a pumped up Sauron with the Ring.
terror doenst have as big of a factor as you think, the balrog will probably only be charged by aragorn, gimli, and boromir who all have like C6. Gil-Galad has C7 and im not sure about elendil but im farily certain he is also C7.
Didn't we have a thread about this a while back? It'll probably have the same outcome too. I was in the process of "Stirring up" stuff here when life hit me like a sack of bricks, so if I can get a decent camera running I'll start posting pics of my army in progress.
Don't forget that you need at least S3 to wound the Balrog at all, so only Frodo out of the hobbits can do anything against it, and Gil-galad also has Terror, so there is the slight chance of Sauron failing a Courage test.
Also, what Fight value does Sauron have (I think it's ? I know Gil-galad has F9(argh).
What is that smily doing there instead of an 8?

Fellowship vs. the balrog
Fellowship has the advantage in points, but the fact that it's a balrog is killer. If balrog kills aragorn and gandalf, Boromir, Gimli and Legolas are screwed. the hobbits are just there to die, only frodo can do anything.
Sauron vs. Elendil and Gil-Galad
Sauron wins, the fact that they have to take out all his wounds and hope he gets a one is ridiculous!
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
