    New to LotR

Hi, I'm new to Lord of the Rings, and have taken up an interest after seeing the films and reading about it in White Dwarf (I currently collect Space Marines).

I was thinking about getting Dwarves, but I don't know where to start. This is the list I've written up:

    What I'm going to get:

    2 Dwarf Warrior Box Sets
    Dwarf Ranger Box Set
    Dwarf Command Set
    Movement Trays
    LotR Rulebook
    Khazad-Dum Supplement

Hopefully I'll have a few dwarves there, and will start playing games quite soon.

    Space Marines: 4,000pts - 7/7/2
    Imperial Guard: Under Construction...

Well I'm certainly no expert. But if you are planning on playing Lord of the Rings, as opposed to War of The Ring you will not need the movement trays. LOTR is the skirmish game where models act independently. WOTR is more like warhammer where you have regiments and requires the movement trays. War of the Ring also has its own rule book which includes all the relevant armylists.

Now if you are like me, (I've also recently bought some dwarves) You are planning on playing LOTR while building up a collection and then moving on to WOTR once you have enough models.

What are thinking about getting would make a good sized LOTR force, while being a bit small for WOTR.

    Sorry for all the abbreviations

    cheers

I think that's a good start to your army: now you need some Heros and more specialised troops, like Gimli, Iron Guard, Khazad Guard, even a Ballista or two.
You'll need to be careful with their slower move rate than usual, but these litlle fellers are hard as steel, skilled and brave.
