Hey there folks. So, someone I know at my local store has been trying to talk me into war of the rings. While I enjoyed the films this has NOTHING to do with why I'm looking at the game so I wanted some information on the tactics of the various factions involved. I usually play fantasy tomb kings and orcs and goblins so I have no idea about War of the ring
What I would like is a very short couple of lines about each of the factions on roughly how they operate / what their tactics tend to be. For example my tomb king army relies on strong support magic and the reliability of my troops. My goblins look to overwhelm their opponents with numbers and whacky toys. Something like this if anyone has time, thank you
Each army in WoTR can generally operate in any way. There's no 'one way' each army works. personally, I find for WoTR, that choosing your army from looks is more important than playstyle. Almost all armies can be tailored to suit you. So Tell me which armies you think you'd be interested in, and I'll see if I can help you
Well I'm not sure, to be honest none of the armies have instantly grabbed me thus far (but my research and understanding of the game is almost none so thats hardly surprisng).
I guess I'd prefer a small number army, seeing as I collect an all goblin army, im not eagre for another 150 + figures to paint and build :p Armies like that tend to be dangerous for the wallet too so I guess that leaves me dwarves or elves right? Though I must admit I also like dark side because of the monsters etc. Do good have any monsters?
Is the game very focused on characters or is it more about the performance of your infantry units or is it possible to build an army that is decent either way?
In addition to what spamalot said on your second question, I personally take an infantry based Isengard army with some nasty tricks (bezerkers ans sappers + 3 trolls!) and the only hero in the lot is Lurtz, who goes in my main unit (6 man sheilds) to give them mighty blow, which stops them getting squished by monsters!
