Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am a noob to LOTR games, and I decided I want to collect a small Isengard force. Can someone please help me create a list? I want to have Lurtz lead my force of Uruk-hai. I want my force to be composed completely of Uruk-hai, kind of similar to the force you see at Helms Deep in the movie, except led by Lurtz and some kind of Uruk-hai command. Maybe a siege assault ballista and/or some trolls too.
Thanks in advance,
Hm lets see.
2-4 blisters of crossbows, seeing as they are still good in combat, and S4 ranged weapons terrify your opponent
2-3 boxes of plastic Uruk-hai, giving you shields and pikes
1 blister of Uruk-hai Berserkers because they can be just devastating
Lurtz, Vrasku and Ugluk, and Thrysdan Wolfsbane for Heroes, all being suitably brutal
1 Troll because he's big, strong, tough and one of the few multi-part kits in LOTR
1 Uruk-hai Commanders box for the banner, Captain and Shaman
1 Ballista (optional), because whatever it hits will not be happy
That should be a good starting collection, giving you some choice in smaller games and a useful force when you use all your collection
Lurtz with bow and shield
5 Uruk-hai with crossbow
10 Uruk-hai with pikes
6 Uruk-hai with shields
With this force use the Troll to clobber things while the crossbows snipe at enemy flanking forces in particular, while your pike-wall will hopefully cut through the enemies they face. Use your Might for a Heroic Combat to chew through the enemy foot-sloggers double-quick or a Heroic Move to prevent enemy cavalry charging. Remember to avoid getting your Troll or Lurtz shot at as much as possible (ie stick them in the 2nd rank or behind).
If you include everything I suggested above you'll be able to field in excess of 1000 pts.
Thankyou for finally replying to this post, reppy for you. Now I see that the LOTR forum is basically dead. A shame, really.
So with all that you could field 1000 points? Excellent!
A little over 1300pts if I remember right. WOTR is a different story, but thats for those with a lot of models.
As for this LOTR forum, its here for completeness really, I think The One Ring is preferable for LOTR talk.
Also, remember that an Uruk-hai pikewall is terrifying to face head on, so your opponent will shoot them, flank them, and lob big rocks at them for good measure (who wouldn't when faced with 3 F4 S4 attacks? Only the big things will dismiss it as nothing).
I remember seeing a movie trailer last year or the year before and can't remember the name of it. In fact all I can remember is a very quick scene from it where a man goes to an ATM to take some money out and when he receives his bank balance finds it in the millions. The story then goes on about how he is being setup to look like a terrorist and he has to try and clear his name whilst escaping from the baddies and police.
