this Christmas I've been gifted with a LotR miniature so I was curious what LotR game it is used in, but I'm a complete noob on the subject and I can't find it anywhere on the GW site. And thus I look for your help, fellow LOers!
The model is Golfimbul, from the LotR strategy battle game line. Does anyone know something more about the lad?
Thank you in advance,
Golfimbul is a I think goblin leaer on Warg
I know his profile is detailed in the The Scourging of the Shire source book, however, he did not make the transition to Legions of Middle Earth and as such is a hero with a profile that appears in no army, it also does not come forth in War of the Ring, countrary to Tom Bombadilwho is left out of legions for obvious reasons, but makes an appearance in the WotR book
Mmmh...so basicly if I ever wanted to start playing LotR it wouldn't be possible to include Golfimbul in an army?
Rulewise, no, but I don't think anyone would object if you ask them nicely, just make sure he fits thematically
If you're in competitive play, like a tournament, or a Legions of Middle-earth game then no, but otherwise yes (I would suggest if you can't find the rules for him at all use him as a Goblin Captain with an extra Might point for 5 pts extra)
Ah, so it's still usable after all in WotR. Thanks!
For WoTR I'd use him as a mounted version of Durburz the Goblin King (for when he goes in Wargs, Spiders or whatever cavalry you can put him in), which will save you some conversion work.
