i've been thinking of playing lord of the ring for sometime now, but not amny people play it at our store, but now there are many. before i get models i made up a list for good and evil.
21 wargs with Throwing Spears
Aragon on foot
avenger bolt trower
12 guards of fountain court
15 warriors of minas tirith with spears
im just guessing that both those lsit are about 400pts each
lots of people say my evil lsit is very cheesy
Your evil list is kinda cheesy...who ever heard of a ringwraith leading a pack of wargs? the good list is much better, very nicely themed around minas tirith although quite a bit over 400pts...485 points, and thats without upgrades (exept for spears). well anyway, hope you get some models together and start playing LOTR
W/L/DMoria Goblins: 1/6/0
I Guess that means dont trust my advice when it comes to strategy and such :p
lol i can see you think my lsit is cheesy. well is this cheesier or not, this guy at my store has 15 berserkers, wringwraith and rest on uri hai thingies.
on my good list, if tis over 400 points i will drop a few fountain guards and minas tirith guys down the 10 or even 8

No doubt Evil list is cheesy but included in a bigger force eventually for sure. Good is Good. The Game at my store is growing. We have people converting from 40K and about 20 regular players.
aargon is wickid!
heres an update on my evil list
witch king mounted with morgul blade and maxed fate and might
13 wargs with trowing spears
good i still havnt really decided?
but i was thinking of an aragon and arwen combo list.
aragon on foot
10 warriors of minis tirith
10 elves with armour and elf blades i think this is abit over.
do gods exist in this world? or did man just made god in his image? if you do not agree answer this, why do we portrait gods as humans? why do our gods look like us? if gods are mighty and powerful then why do they look like the weak.
I would not take Aragorn in such a small game. I'd take a captain or smaller hero... Faramir...Originally Posted by ReaverRider
Apart from that the good army is good.
And you could use Sharku to lead the warg riders...
Heavy cavalry armys are pretty unreliable, against e.g Radagast. I agree with you in turn about Lurtz.Originally Posted by Grand Master Belial
Love Lurtz, but always dies every time against stronger heroes or outnumbering!!!
I've been trying him w/ a bow and keeping him back. Trick is keeping him close enough to use Might for Heroic Moves and Combats wisely yet keep his distance to avoid the aforementioned pummeling. Does a little better but tends to attract a ton of bow fire from the decent archers (Elves and Rangers, Legolas or Haldir) though it seems a waste not to have him get into the scrap.Originally Posted by Cairocopter
Saruman would be too much of a points sink unless against Radagast or Gandalf. I wouldn't have a Ringwraith without Mordor orcs (of some persuation) unless it's the Nine in force.
Problem is his strength 2 bow never does much more damage than a gobbo, same just with +1 to hit and might...Originally Posted by Grand Master Belial
Never get your points back.
I agree about Saruman, he's unreliable at the best of times, though palantir is pretty good.
