Hey, after watching the movies (again) and playing battle for middle earth, I have decided to start playing LOTR. BUt the thing is, I have no idea what to do to start.
Do I buy the rule book?
(paints and stuff not included)
Also, I'm set in colecting something evil, preferably mordor or angmar (whatever that is.) I don't know what to get though because the layout of the lotr books are kind of confusing. Where are the rules? what do the supplements do?
I plan to get: mordor orks, uruks, cave troll or mordor troll, witch king on fell beast, ring wratih on fell beast, morannon orks, warg riders (are they part of mordor?), some easterlings, mouth of sauron, sauron and some of witch king's servants as my whole list. But waht do you recommend getting first? BTW, the witch king model sucks, and do u think it's a good idea to convert it?
a good way to start out is getting the mines of moria, this will let you get the rule book, the fellow ship, 24 goblins (i think) and a mordor troll.
from there you can make your army. this is a reelly good deal.
for lord of the rings, if you decide to go in tournaments you are suppose to have a good and evil force and you roll of the see which one you will use.
do gods exist in this world? or did man just made god in his image? if you do not agree answer this, why do we portrait gods as humans? why do our gods look like us? if gods are mighty and powerful then why do they look like the weak.
What sort of Mordor-army will you be playing... Mordor is maybe the amry with the most choices since you may put nearly everything in it.
Wow! Sorry for not answering for so long, you guys were really helpful. In the end, I just bought some orks, and a few ringwraiths, and I'm still in the process of painting the ringwraiths. I still haven't got the book yet though, haven't got the time.
Oh and karantalsis, yes, I really like magic, ringwraiths, sauron and mouth of sauron are my favourite chars (not rulewise.. haven't got the book yet)
So now I've got:
5 ringwriaths of horses
any ideas what to get besides the rulebook? By the way, does that make an okay force? I heard the Troll Cheiftain is very effective so I might get him too
Buy Return of the King boxed set (£40)
Mordor troll chieftain, shaman
And you should be on your way to starting, with rules and a small army

Get some more Orcs, red eye Uruk-hai and a Mordor Troll or two. Comparatively, that's too many heroes for the number of warriors you have. You need to bulk up your army some more with troops. If you're really into Ringwraiths, maybe get one on Fellbeast; and get Khamul-he's awesome!
