Welcome to Librarium Online!
My local store is holding several small points game tournement for each of the 3 GW gaming systems.
The lord of the rings rules are that you need two lists of 250 points each, one good and one evil and you can have 1 named character or 2 unnamed characters and up to a third of your models can have bows.
I only have the return of the king rulebook so some of my points costs could be wrong but here are my lists.
4 uruk-hai with shields - 40
10 uruk hai with pikes - 100
1 standard bearer - 40
1 uruk captain with shield - 55
As far as I am aware, the costs have been taken down a point each, leaving me with 31 points. I had a game with these guys against high elves and I got beaten pretty badly. I used a shield wall with obviously the shields at the front and then 2 ranks of pikes and the standard at the back. The elves used their moving through woods rule to great advantage and my lack of bows was also pretty bad. Does anyone have any armylist changes is mind or tactics that could be useful, I have enought models to pretty much put anything in it.
Captain with shield
Captain with crossbow
My other list is:
Captain with Elf Blade + heavy armour and Bow - 65
5 Archers - 55
4 Swordsmen - 40
4 Spear + Shield men - 44
4 Swordsmen - 40
I field them with 4 swordsmen + the captain in front of the bows and the other 4 swordsmen behind the spears but they swap positions before they go into combat. The lord has a bow in case I need to call a heroic shoot, and the extra defence from a shield wouldn't have been that useful because he already has a high defence, and the bow might actually kill sometihng. Any Suggestions or changes for this list? Similarly with the other list, I have plenty of other models to add into it or swap or whatever.

I don't play the game, but have a few of the miniatures, so I wouldn't necessarily take this as sound advice, but I like the look and feel of the Berserkers and reckon you should fit one in. A couple of Uruks with Crossbows could also prove handy to take out your enemies from a distance.
Wood Elves 2/0/1
Orcs & Goblins 0/1/0

Good idea, these guys rock in small games.Originally Posted by Pokey

if you could get hold of them i strongly recommend a few wargs as they are highly effective units that are still super cheap as far as points go.. they don't break the bank either... whats not to love
