circle stratergy help

hey there firs of all im still pretty new to hordes so i appreciate any and all help
heres my problem me and a friend have just started playing hordes but he has been playing other table top games for years so hes mastered it pretty quickly, he plays as legion and im a circle player, i need to know how to beat him as he knows alot more stratery than i do and i can never win out of about 25-30 games i havnt won any as he dosnt go easy at all he goes streight for the kill and wont give me time to learn from the fights at all, i know that makes him a shitty play partner but i dont want to go against people at my local game group untill i know how to use my army, we both play using the standard box set so i was wondering if anyone had usefull advive thank you
