1250 Point Competitive for Escalation Tournament

Hey all! It's been a while since I played 40k, and I decided to start up again by playing in a year-long Escalation tournament that starts on the 28th. But I need your help!
I don't know what the current 40K 'metagame' is, and I'm a bit rusty with my Tau, so I'm asking for your help in fielding a viable list. I can buy any models I need, but it'll be cutting it close as I have to buy, assemble and paint them all! So lemme know what you think of my list, and please share your thoughts and suggestions.

    HQ:
Shas'El with Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Targeting Array, Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker, Hard-Wired Blacksun Filter
    [100 points]

    Elite:
Crisis Battlesuit w/ Team Leader, Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Targeting Array, Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker
    [77 pts]

    Crisis Battlesuit Team
1x Crisis Battlesuit w/ Team Leader, Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Targeting Array, Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker
1x Crisis Battlesuit w/ Twin-Linked Missile Pod, Targeting Array
    [130 pts]

    Crisis Battlesuit Team
1x Crisis Battlesuit w/ Team Leader, Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Targeting Array, Hard-Wired Multi-Tracker
1x Crisis Battlesuit w/ Twin-Linked Missile Pod, Targeting Array
    [130 pts]

    Troop:
    Kroot Carnivore Squad
    10x Kroot Carnivores
    [70 pts]

    Fire Warrior Squad
    6x Fire Warriors
    1x Devilfish w/ Disruption Pod
    [145 pts]

    Fire Warrior Squad
    6x Fire Warriors
    [60 pts]

    Fast Attack:
    Pathfinder Squad
    4x Pathfinders
    1x Devilfish w/ Disruption Pod
    [133 pts]

Piranha Light Skimmer w/ Fusion Blaster, Targeting Array, Disruption Pod
    [75 pts]

    Heavy Support:
Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x Burst Cannons, Multi-Tracker, Disruption Pods
    [165 pts]

Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, 2x Burst Cannons, Multi-Tracker, Disruption Pods
    [165 pts]

    Total: 1250

So the plan here is to have the Shas'El join with the lone Fireknife, and have the three teams jumping around, taking out transports and wreaking havoc on MEQs. The Kroot may possibly Outflank (though unlikely) or may just sit on an objective and play it safe, while the Fire Warriors will stay inside the whole time to score. The Piranha will block the enemy's movement and line of sight, and the Hammerheads/Pathfinders will do what you'd expect them to.
With eleven different units (ten once the Shas'El joins with the monat) and a lot of armor, I think this list has plenty to keep the enemy occupied while my troops play it safe and score last turn.

So let me know what you think, and share some advice.

    Thanks!

Edit: Also, if you know much about Eldar, please check out my Eldar army list thread (1250 Point Competitive for Escalation Tournament) and drop some comments there.

Well, it seems pretty solid to me. One query is why are the suit squads mixed? It would surely make more sense to pile the Plasma weapons together and the TL MP's together, dedicating your fire a bit, any explanation for the groupings?

I looked at mixing crisis squads as well, it allows all your suits to be bs4, if you're taking non-team leader crisis fireknives they're lumped at bs3 with no re-rolls

how effective ti is i dont know, i ended up dropping all of my non-hq crisis to deathrains anyway as i was fighting eldar and lots of s7 is brilliant for supressing their tanks

Yeah, the whole idea with the mixed XV8 squads was that every Suit could be BS4, and I could still have several Plasma Rifles to deal with MEQs/TEQs a lot easier. But I'm thinking if I were to drop the Team Leaders and turn them into Deathrains, not only would I save some points, but I'd have better transport popping capabilities. What do you guys think of each option?

This list seriously need more fire warriors. Tau are never going to win by simply shooting and sitting on objectives. You need to kill their troops, so they can't contest or win your objectives. You can tell here that you have written the list from HQ down. Start with the troops, then HQ, then Heavy Support, Elites and finally Fast Attack. Crisis Suit also don't work by themselves - you need 2 or 3 for them to work, or you are just going to get hit by the equivalent of Vespids and get annihilated. With 2 or 3 you can allocate the wounds and, keep them alive for longer.
Also Piranhas are useless in tourneys, where everyone has guard, who will use a single heavy weapon platform on you, and you are dead.
I would suggest taking out the Piranhas and that lone crisis suit and adding in a load more Fire Warriors, putting your Shas'El with another unit, and taking out one hammerhead and replacing it with some broadsides.

    Good luck mate!
