Hail, this is Shas'o Tau Dev'n Kauyon Reporting.

The area around my Run'Al on Gideon IV has grown quiet.

Too quiet.

Thus I have dispatched several teams to take on combat patrols in the surrounding lands.

This is the first and most trusted team:

Tau & Kroot
Combat Patrol

Troops – 84
Kroot Carnivore’s
Kroot Rifles

Elites – 190
Stealth Team
Shas’vre & Shas’ui
Burst Cannons

Fast Attack – 96
Gun Drone Squadron
TwL Pulse Carbines

Fast Attack – 30
Kroot Hound Pack
Attached to Troops

Total=400 On the dot. XD

I am LOVING this Combat Patrol team. Stealths and Gundrones and Kroot w/Hounds means a suprisingly mobile force. The ability of Stealths and Gundrones to take out enemy vehicles is in full force here as my only anti-heavy squads, but I am SO down with that!

Also, it's very stealthy which I love as well. ^_^

I think it's wonderfully fluff appropriate...
Think about it, it's combat patrol!

Gun Drones-Standard Tau security measure.

Kroot- Also a standard Tau security measure/scout force

Stealth- Fluff appropriate Scouts/Lone Wolves. They are out there because they know something is up... <.< >.< >.>

Aren't Fire Warriors 1+? I suppose you'd ignore that rule (for the fluffiness or whatnot) if the people you play with are okay with it, though...

I guess the list is nasty enough, although there are a lot of eggs in the Stealth Team basket which could turn out quite bad with a bit of bad luck.

Aye, FW are a 1+ troop, but this is Combat Patrol.

For example, if you look on page 182 of the 4th Edition Rulebook, the last paragraph in the first column outlines a similar situation. In order to deploy an Armoured Fist squad you have to have an infantry platoon. An Armoured Fist squad would certainly perform combat patrol and thus the infantry platoon is waived. This is why I think I can do a Kroot squad, it's just so appropriate!

Also, I realize a lot of my points are thrown into those Stealths, that is partly why I'm so happy with this team! It isn't a "for-sure" power gaming peice of kit.
I could lose, but then again I could win too! ^_^
Gotta love Stealths and Drones taking out heavies. :cool:

I'm well aware of that rule (my combat patrol has 2 Armoured Fist Squads :p ), but oppinions may differ if it's okay or not. Remember that it isn't an ironed rule that is taped to the wall, but rather lying on the ground in shambles and stepped on every day.

I wouldn't have a problem with it anyway, that's for sure.

I'd probably allow this. As an IG Command Platoon (HQ) is also a 1 choice, no option to not take one, but I never take a Command Platoon when I play Combat Patrol with my Guard.
