Faction Fluff
Sergeant Holmis ran forward lasgun firing wildly. The Primitive xenos beass scattered before his charge. They sprinted past a turning and Holmis came to a halt the rest of his squad nearly piling into the back of them.
“Careful” he barked “could be an ambush”. The squad immediate calmed down. It wouldn’t be the first time the blasted xenos had led them into a trap. The xenos invaders were scum for sure. Deacon Tronkes had preached long and hard about that subject. But they possessed a certain low cunning. Cunning enough to make traitors out of some of the humans on Aurora Secondus.
Holmis still couldn’t believe that the 2nd Aurora Secondus PDF regiment had turned traitor to fight side by side with these animals. Rumour had it that there was another caste of the xenos that were more intelligent and had offered money to the humans. Holmis didn’t believe it though. It was hersy to even suggst that a xenos would have a concept as civilising as money
“Alright” said the sergeant “Grondal, you’ve got the grenades hurl em round the corner then we go in hard!”
Grondal nodded, took a handful of the coin sized flash bangs and threw them around the corner.
Holmis charged around letting off a burst of laser fire…into nothing in particular. The Xenos had gone and all that was left was he long corridor.
“Hey” said Holmis “Where does this lead to?” Corporal Rikun spoke up “Storage block 7/VC. Frozen animal feed.”
Holmis nodded. “Right. We’ll have to clear it out. Trust the dirty xenos to make for the dog food…….”
************************************************************************
Holmis scanned the warehouse. There hundreds of meters worth of frezers lined up three times the height of a man. He had sent a man down each of the isles. Lacking vox units Holmis had decided to have the sqaud check in at each of the regular intersections.
Cautiously he scanned the tops of the freezers, the xenos were quick and good climbers. That’s how they had scragged the captain two days ago. He heard low scrapping and turned around. Nothing. “Hey Wilforn you there” he shouted
“Yeah sarge. I’m stil alive”
Holmis nodded to himself. Damn xenos, damn traitors and damned govenor. He didn’t need this hassle. He had saved up three years worth of pay and was planning to go to Aurora Prime with his wife. He bet they didn’t have this kind of trouble there. He reached the intersection. He looked left and right. His squad seemed to have made it. “All right” he said “We go another twenty meters to the next intersection. And rememebr to watch the…”
“Sarge,” said Trondil frantically “Where’s Rikun?” Homis frowned. Rikun had taken the furthest side of the warehouse and was no where to be seen,.
Holmis didn’t even have time to feel the knot of panic I nhis stomach before the xenos struck again.
This time though the xenos were wearing bright orange armour and wielded heavy looking lasguns. They swarmed out from the isles and the intersections behind the squad laser fire cutting through the PDF troopers. Holmis ducked behind a large freezer and returned fire. Suddenly he felt his back explode with pain. He staggered forward and turned.
Grondal stood over him tears in his eyes, his lasgun still smoking he pointed the gun at Holmis’s face.
Holmis coughed up blood “Why?” he managed
“For the Greater Good” said Grondal sadly. Then he fired.
Fearing the disruption to trade that the war on Aurora Prime will cause Commander Or’es Mal‘caor has moved the Tau plans for annexing Aurora Secondus forward. In a single day the Tau Hunter Cadres emerged from hidden bases across the uninhabitable surface of the planet and secured the entrance points to the habzones beneath. In addition each of the main star piints were taken by a Hunter Cadre.
Two of the Aurora Secondus PDF regiments alogn with the planetary governor and his household have willingly joined forces with the Tau and a third PDF regiment has surrendered. The fourth however, along with many loyal Imperial citizens have attempted to fight back against the alien invaders. Bitter fire fights have ensued across Aurora Secondus. The Imperial forces are however outmatched in skill and equipment and would have been all but annihilated were it not for the sudden arrival of the dark eldar on Aurora Secondus. Now a desperate three way battle has begun.
Commander Or’es Mal‘caor is not naive however. He knows that if Aurora Prime is not taken then any victory on Aurora Secondus will be in vain. He also knows he does not have nearly enough troops to mount a full assault against the planet. He has therefore requested reinforcements and is concentrating on Aurora Secondus as a secure base of operations.
For the Tau the Aurora system is of extreme strategic and symbolic importance for it will mark the beginning of a new wave of expansions into the Zeist Sector.
