Thread: Pathfinder

with pathfinders when you fire a markerlight do you just fire one or is it one for every pathfinder?

also if you fire one for each does it have to be at the same opponent?

one more thing does the markerlight alow a squad or just one member of the squad to shoot. ie a squad of 3 broadsides could all of them fire or just the one hitting on a 2+.

    completley diffrent topic.

say for example 3 zonethropes take up one heavy support slot for the nids, however they are independent characters so could I direct my fire on all of them with say a fw team or broadside team even though they are probably going to be nowhere near each other.

after all they are still one squad?

Ok, Markerlights- One can be fired for each member, all other friendly units now hit that unit on a 2+, they can only fire at one squad and if they fire the markerlight, they can't fire their pulse carbines as well, this is why I tend to keep a Shas'el in the squad with a hard-wired multi-tracker, this means tha the Pathfinder squad can fire their markerlights seperately to the leader's.
As for the Zoanthropes- someone else will have to tell you about that...

One more thing, 1 markerlight 1 shot. I mean that only 1 shot from a markerlight equals one shot hitting 2+.

Wrong wording, I meant what Sir_Prometheus said.
    1 shot 1 weapon

Actually one markerlight hit means one weapon can fire at 2+. So, with an Ion Cannon you'd get 3 shots at 2+. That markerlight hit would be used up.

It's be better to give the Shas'ui a target-lock so he light up a different target, like a tank.

    Each Zoanthroape is targeted seperately.

Getting warmer people, but this is how it works:

1 markerlight hit = 1 model hitting that squad on 2+

    No, one weapon.

A Devilfish with 4 Seeker Missiles doesn't get to shoot them all and hit on a 2+ with a single markerlight hit - which is the most extreme case of what you said.

A Crisis Suit with two weapons only may hit on a 2+ with one weapon.

...can change its to hit roll against the same target to 2+ with a single weapon...

so if a squad of 5 pathfinders fire markerlights at something and 4 hit that means i can shot 4 seekers at it or 2 seekers and 2 broudsides, any combo like that???

the person that has been teaching me to play has only aloud me to fire 1 markerlight for the squad

    Say you have 5 Pathfinders.

    Say 4 Markerlights hit.

    You may fire four weapons.

    Weapons are:

Seeker Missiles, Plasma Rifles, Missile Pods, Burst Cannons, Railguns, Ion Cannons, Pulse Rifles, etc. etc.

For each Markerlight hit you may fire one weapon, however you may fire all of that weapon's shots with the 2+ to hit.

For example: One markerlight hit gives you one weapon. You may either fire a single Seeker Missile or both shots from a Missile Pod since it is a single weapon.

You fire one Markerlight for each Pathfinder because they are all equipped with it.

thanx for the clear up. the person who has been teaching me has been real helpful, but some of the rules seam to escape him. either that or he just wants to win... so far i have played 6 times total 5 against him and have beaten him each time...

It is one model because it says in the codex that you have declare what model you will be using the markerlight for. If you want to fire a seequer missile you have to declare it. In other words, if you elect to have a hammerhead to hit on a 2+ you can't fire it's seeker missile. If you elect to fire the seeker missile, it will only hit on 3+.

If you don't believe me, read the codex. It's clearly written in the weapon description section.
