Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've not played a game of fantasy in a while but thought it was time to summon up some followers and march out to war again. I've put together the following list and was wondering how I could alter it. I'm thinking of dropping the scorpion for a unit of carrion but am unsure at this point
Tomb King - GW, Cloak of the Dunes 196pts Sits around with the catapults increasing their rate of fire until needed. He then joins the large block or jumps into the newly emerged unit that the icon bearer summons
Hierophant - Collar of Shapesh, Hieratic Jar – 165pt
Licher Priest - Dispell Scroll – 140pts
Icon Bearer - Banner of the Hidden Dead – 125pts
Tomb Swarms (2) – 90pts
Heavy Horsemen (6) Standard, War Banner – 135pts
Archers (12) – 96pts
Warriors (2 Light Armour, Shields, Full Command, Banner of the Undying Legion – 302pts
Warriors (10) Standard – 100pts Summoned behind opponent's units when they get near to prevent them fleeing. Also useful when opponents are forced to flee as a result of catapult shots
Chariots (3) - 120pts
Tomb Scorpion – 85pts
Ushabti (4) – 260pts
Catapult – 90pts
Catapult – 90pts
Tomb King - GW, Cloak of the Dunes 196pts - make your scroll monkey on SSC smiting duty instead of a TK
Hierophant - Collar of Shapesh, Hieratic Jar – 165pt - personally i think he needs the cloak
Licher Priest - Dispell Scroll – 140pts - should be on SSC smiting duty
Icon Bearer - Banner of the Hidden Dead – 125pts - think about switching for TP
Tomb Swarms (2) – 90pts - kool
Heavy Horsemen (6) Standard, War Banner – 135pts - ok but i dont realy like horses
Archers (12) – 96pts - the faithful archers!
Warriors (2 Light Armour, Shields, Full Command, Banner of the Undying Legion – 302pts - put king here
Warriors (10) Standard – 100pts Summoned behind opponent's units when they get near to prevent them fleeing. Also useful when opponents are forced to flee as a result of catapult shots - good!
the rest of the stuuf is fine... see if you can find the points for SotF on the catapults
Swap the Cloak an Collar around on your TK / Hiero. far better combination that way. Also, the king doesnt need to sit with the SSC, his magic has a range, so just keep him and his skellie unit close to the SSC to begin with for him to give assistance.
Definitely looking at dropping the IB for a prince, or even a third priest. The loss of magic is something you cant afford. Also the hidden dead banner is far too expensive for what it does, considering you cant cherge immidiately. If you could, then it would be seen a lot more i think.
For the prince, look at getting him on a chariot, and joining the Chariot unit. If you opt for a liche priest, possibly give him a steed and the Staff of Ravening.
Only a small cav unit will get beat down fairly quickly, loose these guys all together for now.
the 28 warrior, drop these to 24 and add the king to the unit. FC is ok here i guess.
Problem with the 10 warrior unit is its too specific, and you never know exactly when and where it will be needed. Also it will take a while for yourIB to get into a decent range. Drop these all together and bulk the archer unit up to 20 - 25, no command.
Definitely try and get SotF for both catapults, you will regret if if ou dont when your opponant rolls bang on Ld, which, sods law, will be more often than average.
Try and get another Scorp into the list, or possibly a unit of carrion as well as the scorp, as the Scorp does have the swarms for ICFB backup.
Well I played a couple of games with the list and the hidden unit did quite well but there were times the icon bearer could have comfortably been killed if my opponent had known he had that banner and i'd never have had the chance to bring the unit up. I've radically modified the list and it now looks like this...
Tomb King - Flail of skulls, Collar of Shapesh, Brooch of the Great Desert
Hierophant - Cloak of the Dunes, Hieratic Jar
Tomb swarms (2)
Warriors (25) Full command, War Banner
Warriors (20) Full command. (King and a priest go here)
Chariots (3) (Flanking unit, more durable than light cav)
I'm unsure about the scorpion, tempted to drop him in favour of a second catapult, or possibly drop it and a priest for a prince who would have a fire chariot, an icon of rulership and act as a flanker. Will play a few more games and see how it pans out and where the list is lacking
If you remove your swarms, or something else, you can add Staff of Ravening to one of your priests, with a steeds when possible. Then you'll have every turn a medium magic missle, dat do light units much damage.
The rest seems pretty good!0:
Thats similiar reasoning to why i tend not to recommend the Staff much anymore, i had similiar experiances and found the points to be beter spent elsewhere. It is quite an expensive item.
It's certainly a expensife one, allthough my Priest with SOR allowes to fire every turn with 3D6 str 2 hit on skirmishers, most player don't even see the power in that staff.
But, you also need a bit of luck, and if you had some bad experience, don't use it again. I'm just trying to say that when I face some Skinks, they are mine for the taking!
Played a few more games v high elves, Orcs, and Empire and the list went fairly well. i've decided to drop the carrion down to three and buy a 4th chariot with a standard, and SoF for the catapult with the points I saved by dropping a champion or two. Oh and one of the priests is now a prince w GW to add some punch to the second skellie block
