Alright, so I've barely been able to play with my 1K list, but am being pushed to get a 2250 one up and running for an upcoming tournament. I haven't decided which way to go with it yet, offensive or defensive, so I'm coming up with two lists. Offense is much more lucrative, the love of the standard foot skellies being a big part of what makes me consider defensive. So, here's the list I'm considering for that.
Tomb King: Chariot, Spear of Antarhak, Armor of the Ages, Golden Eye of Rah-Nutt.
Tomb Prince: Chariot, Light Armor, Flail.
Liche Priest: Cloak of the Dunes, Hieratic Jar.
Liche Priest: Skeletal Steed, Staff of Ravening
12x Heavy Cavalry: Musician, Standard, Banner of the Undying Legion.
6x Light Cavalry
6x Light Cavalry
3x Chariots: Musician
3x Chariots: Musician
2x Tomb Swarm
Any tips/suggestions for this one? I'm really not sure where to go with it. But in the few matches I've played so far, playing the wait-and-shoot-the-[Expletive of your choice]-out-of-them game has gotten old. I'm thinking a more mobile, aggressive list will suit me a bit better. Even if I prefer the look of a defensive force. xD
Must say, im rather impressed with the offensive list! Congrats Only thing i would say is a 4th Ushabti would be nice... so possibly lose the Chariot's Music, and a light cav from each unit, and... a Tomb Swarm? Wow thatll be hard pushed to fit lol. Especially as im thinking the Kings unit could use a magic banner too, Undying legion Actually, those few swaps fit perfectly to points changes i think.
Just a quick question:
Since the king makes chariots a core choice, why would you want to take light/heavy horsemen instead? If it has something to do with how the units will be used, would you mind explaining?
And something slightly off-topic, when a prince is on a chariot does that mean he has his own physical model? Or would he be on one of the 3x ones?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, dropping two light cav, the musicians, and one of the swarms makes up the points for those changes plus 10 extra I'll find a use for somewhere. I had thrown the Undying Legion on the horsemen to make them an exceptionally obnoxious fast moving anvil, but that and the Spear, plus any emergency Summonings from nearby priests for the Kings unit should make them pretty tough to bring down. And make the bound item a bigger threat, so more likely to have dispel dice thrown at it rather than my actual incantations. Once Carrion, the swarm, and any ICFB Scorps have dealt with the warmachines that'd delight in blowing them to bits, that is.
As for the reasoning behind the heavy cavalry, it was to still allow a bit of basic Hammer/Anvil tactics when there's something I don't think I can reliably break on the charge through wounds alone. The light are to babysit one of the priests, help knock a rank bonus off of units before a charge, and flank charge if need be.
The Prince and King have chariots of their own, so it'd be two units of 4 Chariots essentially.

Aaahh, oops. When i started recommending the BotUL on the chariots I forgot it was already on the Cav. Keep it with the cav. Possibly try and get the Sacred Eye on the Chariots.
Dropping the last swarm will buy the standard. Just have to trust in my Carrion and Scorps to take care of war machines. And Light Cav to screen a bit if need be, using their reform. A single swarm may have been pushing it, anyway. It'd be more for a psychological threat from another ICFB marker on the table if the Scorpions are deployed that way.
That is a bit of a problem, i think the Swarm, even just one base, could be pretty useful. You can get 2 markers down and your opponant wont know which is which, and also against WM crew a Swarm is pretty handy, and if Poison doesn't kill all crew off then they will still be held in combat for a while.
That is true. I keep forgetting about the lack of static CR on war machine crews. So it shouldn't be a one-turn thing with a single swarm, with it either killing the crew, or completely crumbling at the end of combat if it fails. I'll have to see if I can work in the banner a different way.
iff iwere you i would seriously want 2+ swarms in a unit my 2 swarms are great and do as good if not better than tomb scorp negating ranks is there 2nd use but is also the one i use most frequently try combineing a charriot charge fron flank watever with a rear charging pair of swarms great combo!!!!(you can negate ranks with one swarm but second makes 100% more everything much more chance of poision ect...)
other than that great list reshuffleing things does help make you think more about where your pionts go. probably one of the only resons wereall on this site!!!

Played the list for the first time today with a few of the changed Phoenix suggested. So it came out like this...
Tomb King: Chariot, Spear of Antarhak, Armor of the Ages, Golden eye of Rah-nutt.
Tomb Prince: Chariot, Chariot of fire, Flail, light armor.
Liche Priest: Cloak of the Dunes, Heiratic Jar.
Liche Priest: Staff of Ravening, Warhorse.
5x Light Cavalry
5x Light Cavalry
12x Heavy Cavalry: Standard, Musician, Banner of the Undying Legion.
1x Tomb Swarm
Played against Dwarves. Two units of Qurralers, one of Thunderers, one of Hammerers, two organ guns, two bolt throwers, a cannon, and the Anvil of Doom.
Lost pretty badly, but the list itself didn't seem to work out too horribly, just errors in my judgement and a bit of bad luck at times. First turn Carrion charge scared off the cannon crew. On turn 2 The Anvil, and in later turns a Bolt Thrower, and (Essentially) a unit of Thunderers fell to the one Scorpion who surfaced. But, by then one unit of chariots was wrecked by an anvil-assisted rear charge from Miners, and the other heavily damaged from a bad round of shooting.
Even for the bit the anvil was in play, my magic phase was sufficient, at least.
I'm having difficulty setting up charges, but that's largely from my inexperience so far. Having only played two 1K games before this that were a change from my defensive 500 point list I was playing.
