Been away from the game for a while and decided to bag a Khemri army, love the egyptian themed undead. And came up with a fairly troop heavy list that stuck my fancy but am not sure if it works very well or is even allowed.
2 x Tomb Prince: Great weapon, Light armour, Banner of the undying legion
1 x LHP: Cloak of dunes, staff of ravening
1 x LP: Casket of Souls
2 x 24 Skellies: hand weapons, light armour, shields, princes join each of these
2 x 16 Skellies: Bows
2 x 20 Tomb Guard: Standard Bearer, Banner of the undying legion
1 x Tomb Scorp
1 x Screaming skull cat
The basic point of this army is to present the enemy with a wall of large undead blocks which regenerate themselves and allow the Ushabti to break the units one by one while the screaming skull and casket of souls and bowmen try to whitle the enemy numbers down slowly. Scorp is obviously for war machines or flanks if they have no machines.
Basically i would quite like some of the more experienced players to point out any flaws which i cant see etc. And also not sure if tomb princes can take magic banners, says in the army book ANY magic items unless it says so next to it and the banners dont say they cant be taken by characters... but someone clarify this for me if they know cos it rather destroys my whole premise.
Let the picking apart commence =D
BotUndying Legion is a magic banner, you can only have one in an army, and Princes cannot take it.
Its an interesting list. Id recommend moving the Princes to join the TG, and have all your Skellie units 20 strong with Music, the HW/S skellies with added banners, and maybe the Bowmen too.
Maybe a Tonb Swarm unit to partner with the second Scorp.
LHP with Claok and SoRav is interesting, just be careful to watch his line of sight and what has LoS to him.. lol.
It is kinda empowering to put a wall of 5x4s out there in front of the war machines aint it?
also if his ushabti are kinda his main flank force... he could put the non general prince with them i found that kinda useful trying it out last weekend.
My Soon2B DoC list below...Wip thread in the works
Fair enough comments, gonna post a reworked list soon, one think though, why add musician? what does he do attached to archer squads?
H'okay, taken some of the advice onboard and reworked the list to try plug any gaps, especially my illegal use of banners gap (oops).
2 x Tomb Prince: Light Armour, Shield, Sword of Might
1 x LHP: Cloak of the Dunes
1 x LP: Casket of Souls
3 x 28 Skellies: Light Armour, Bows, Full command
1 x 2 Tomb Swarms
2 x 4 Ushabti (The princes join one of these each)
3 x Carrion
1 x Tomb Scorpion
Screaming Skull Catapult: Skulls of the Foe
The basic premise of this army is more or less the same as before, present the enemy with large blocks of undead this time able to shoot while at range, infront of the catapult and casket (hopefully on hill), good plus point. On the flanks would go the Ushabti with princes to create a super hard shock unit to engage once the archers were in combat. Added carrions to try tie up war machines in the first turn if possible. Tomb swarms and Scorp to hide underground infront of my lines until enemy close in to melee at which point archers hold em whilst ushabtis smash the sides and burrowers try and get the rears, surround them hopefully.
Please pick holes tell me of any illegalities etc. If this list fails i may try a Khalida list, Huge unit of autosmiting archers with poison and khalidas staff attack just sounds amazing.
Again, only one Prince will be allowed a Sword of Might. Same for all magic items.
Armour on bow skellies is a tad pointless, the poor save will rarely help you. Save yourself some points. Maybe take some skellies out of each unit and create a 4th unit?
