I'm just begining to make up my Tomb Kings army (battalion is on it's way) and i need alittle advice on the list i've drawn up before skeles arrive and i start building them as archers/hw.
Below is my proposed 1k list:
Tomb Prince w/ CoS + GW
Hierophant w/ CoD
Liche Priest w/ Steed
19 Skeleton Warriors w/ HW/S/LA + Musician + champion (the artist formely known as tomb prince here)
10 Skeleton archers
5 Light horsemen
total - 1004
I am already aware that i should probably drop the light horsemen and pick up a SSC instead but that's something i will work towards (plus i don't like the ssc model too much). The main questions i have is if i should run the 19 warriors and the 10 archers or just a big block of 19 archers? I'm also curious as to the best number of light cav to run (and if i should put my lich on steed in this unit or leave him behind to smite other people)
thanks for any advice!

Firstly if you want to use HW or archers is totally personal preference, i prefer defensive play so i go for big blocks of archers, but melee works just as well, especially with chariots to flank a unit you have pinned.
Generally you put the liche on steed with the horse archers if you have given him the staff of ravening so they act as a bodyguard "look out sir" rule etc. Now coming onto that, from your list i can see you have wasted alot of points on silly stuff liek full command for the light horsemen. They will not do you much good, and eat ALOT of points. Same for the chariots.
For example you could save 35 points dropping command from light horsemen, and 50!!!! points for dropping command for chariots that gives you enough points to give your mounted priest the revered staff of ravening and run him with the light horsemen to harass small enemy units effectively. This also leaves you 40 points to bulk out your army further. You could for example get another chariot for this. Also maybe drop your champion in the skellie unit and grab standard bearer for +1 combat resolution.
The only reason you should be taking champions in such a low WS army is for accepting challenges on behalf of your more precious characters.

Whoops i write up army lists in notepad and had accidently pasted the points costs from a list that i'd given the commands too. Looking at my list now i have 80ish points free, maybe i should add staff and a tomb swarm/10 more archers or squeeze in a SSC
Yes, i would deffinitely reccomend giving mounted priest staff of rav. In such a small game i wouldnt bother with a tomb swarm, chariot would serve you better.
If you want to squeze in an ssc, you could just have one unit of 19 warriors.
Tomb Prince w/ CoS + GW - 129
Hierophant w/ CoD - 135
Liche Priest w/ Steed + SoR - 168
19 Skeleton Warriors w/Standard bearer + LA + Shields - 181
5 Light horsemen - 70
3 Chariots - 120
Tomb Scorpion - 85
SSC w/ Skulls of the foe - 110
total - 998
I'm trying to avoid the SSC for now as I'm just collecting the models. The tomb swarm was there as a cheap (points wise and cash wise) filler. I think i may run this list to get myself going at the moment:
Tomb Prince w/ CoS + GW
Hierophant w/ CoD
Liche Priest w/ Steed + SoR
19 Skeleton Warriors w/ HW/S/LA + Musician
10 skelton archers
5 light horsemen
total - 997
All units are naked unless noted, the only other change i can think to make with the models i will have to begin with is dropping the swarm for more horsemen/command on the big skeleton unit.
I suppose i should really wait until they arrive and find out what works for myself
Just make sure to have a task for all your units This includes the SLH, that the only "valuable" bonus you get with them is faster movement. And then it comes again (that eternal question): Is it worth the cost? Is it worth the bonus movement? It is up to you to answer
I would consider an additional Bowmen regiment maybe for the cost of the Swarm and SLH's.
Otherwise, I find your army quite well done

However our comrade made it sound like he wants to use the models he has and not get any more so he is kind of forced to use the light horsemen and mounted priest.
Hey, Outbreak I got an idea...
Buy a little more units if you can and try to make a list with thoughts of what have recently been written here I think you can build a great Legion if you read some other threads in this section too,,, There are much valuable information discussed in these forums
