Default New TK player! Help with 2k list plz!

I'm playing a Khalida army as I've fallen for the story of her rise and fall....and rise again.
My 2k army list is currently sitting at 2028 and I'm not sure what to do. I have 2 different variations to the army... one with Ushabti, the other with Tomb Guard. My current tactics, depending on the opposing army of course, is a defensive one. All of my archers are sporting poison. Khalida is with the Tomb Guard sitting in range of the SSC to make sure it gets two shots a turn as well as some heavy hitting support. Her staff is used to keep cavalry/flyers at bay as it suspends movement. other then that it's pretty straight forward. Further tactical help would also be a plus. Thanks!

First thing is you might want to remove the point cost for the casket and scorpions, GW gets in a rage if they see exact numbers.

Other than that, the main problem I see here is that you have nothing to defend your flanks. I know all those bow shots seem like they'll do some serious damage, but the problem is that if the eenemy rolls up with any type of calvary unit, those guys are in serious trouble.

You are also lacking enough priests to take full advantage of your archers, you want them to be firing those expensive asp arrows twice a turn to put the numbers game in your favor. I would also suggest dumoing the scorpions, since you can rez troops scary things like bolt throwers and such are really no worry.

You should take some chariots instead, these can smash into lines and easily protect a light flank.

Looks like I forgot to mention the other idea I had It was to keep my Tomb Guard with Khalida on the one flank... guarding the middle and one flank essentially, Especially with that wicked staff of hers *shiver*. While keeping the one flank open I hope to lure him into the unprotected flank where my Scorpions can come up behind him/ in his ranks. Not sure how well it will work of course as I haven't yet had a chance to test it.

Another idea is to keep Khalida in a group of those archers just for cavalry suppression while having the Guard watch the other flank.

Thoughts, comments?

Hi Jarlil.

Not sure if you've seen this thread yet but much of the advice offered in there will also apply to youself since it's also a 2k Khalida list:

So down to specifics then...

In order to get the best out of your archers you will need to use them in blocks of 20+. It has become quite fashionable amongst some players (particularly the lesss experienced ones) to field archers in smaller numbers, and whilst there is a specific case for this it is not one that applies to this list.

There are a couple of things missing from your list. The first of these (and perhaps the most important) is carrion. Carrion are critical to any Khalida list because they can be used to march block your opponents forces and give you more time to exploit your poison bowfire. 3 is plenty for this purpose and they will only set you back a mere 72 pts.

The other notable absence is hammer units. Whilst you do have the TG (and these can sometimes fill the hammer role in a pinch), you are probably better off thinking of them as an A+ anvil rather than an out and out hammer. Also note that the banner you give them says something about how you invisage them being used- If you give them the BoTUL then you are expecting them to be used as an anvil, but if you intend to use them offensively then the Icon of Rakaph is the preferred choice.

So now the good news: Khalida counts as a tomb king for purposes of making chariots a core choice. This is a godsend because although you will need to make a few changes to your list you can now add some chariots to counter attack anything that tries to mix it with your bow dudes.

Khalida is tricky to use at 2k because she is so expensive, but if you can get the balance right you should find your list to be very effective.

I believe I see what your saying. Any suggestions on where I could take some points out to mix it up a little? I'm having a tough time making room for a lot of these ideas. 10 Points / Skele isn't helping much either With 2 blocks of 20 that doesn't free me up a lot of points.

Thanks again for all the help! this is great advice so far.

Oh.. I'm also making this list for playing friendly and in store/ tourny play.

The first thing I can suggest would be to ditch the standards & musicians off any units you do not want in combat. A standard has the potential to give your opponent 100 extra VP, so any time you put a standard in a unit it is best to protect it.

Khalida lists are tricky, you need to fit in as many bows as possible, and unfortunately they are more expensive when you do buy them. I find it difficult to make a Khalida list at any points level less than 2250, here's the list I have for her at that points level...

This uses the Carrion & Light Horsemen to march block for maximum number of shots. All bows & catapult attempt to take out 1 enemy unit before they arrive, then the Skeleton Warriors engage another unit and anvil until the chariots arrive. If needed, 1 of the archer groups can act as a second anvil for the other unit of chariots.

Only problem is that I have a difficult time dropping this to 2k.

What unit to you stick Khalida with? I'm thinking of maybe dropping my Tomb Guard for some chariots, and Carrion, or maybe some Ushabti. If I do Chariots and Carrion I might be able to boost my archers some.. I'll have to work out the points however.

Another Idea I had was to stick Khalida with the SSC crew.. this way protecting the crew itself and letting it shoot constantly twice a turn. This also has the advantage of protecting her from incoming fire as well as hits need to be allocated between the SSC and crew. The problem with this is that if the SSC blows up.. I'm pretty sure she goes with it >.<

Actually, in the Warhammer rule book it says that characters cannot get squashed when the warmachine blows up (in warmachines section)

Ok here is the update I've made to my list. I don't have the chariots yet but that can come with a little bit of time I'm short 50 points so any help on what would be good to spend it on would be fantastic.

You could give your secong liche priest staff of ravening to add more one more spell to your all important magic phase, any other magic item you may need, or you could add a few more bowmen to both groups to give them a little more bang. If you really wanted you could add command to your 2 skellie units
