Hello my Lords and Ladies of the exotic necropoli and faraway deserts...
My first 1000 pts of Tomb Kings is roughly
40 skeletons with Hand weapons and Shield and full command
20 skeleton archers
2 Scarab Swarms
a Tomb Prince
I didn't list all the equipment and such. My question is this: 40 skeletons with command and a tomb prince can play a heck of a fear game, at 1000 pts, can't it? But is this unit too big, and do I have too few units altogether? Does this army need a total rewrite? How many skellies would you put in the main block at 1000 pts?

the numbers are up to you, 40 is max bu I'd personally make sure I got all my special and rare out of the way before hand. Also I'd give them bows, that's 80 shots that hit on 5+ coming from that unit. About 1/3 of your shots will hit, so you can start to wear them down early. Scorps and/or chariots would be good, because you lack hitting power except maybe your prince. And a catapult at a low game is pretty sweet, especially one that causes a panic check for each wound at -1 to LD. The only advice I think I can give reguarding tomb kings as a whole is, we're VERY dependant on our characters and incantations, and lack heavy hitters, highest str you can get under 1000 pts is 6. I almost always fill up all my rare and special choices, too.
P.S. scorp is worth it, always.
Thank you Mumm-Ra, I was kind of worried about monsters and other high toughness creatures, and you bringing that up has convinced me to take the problem seriously. I think I will take your advice and try to get at least a scorpion and add my three battalion chariots. I like archers, maybe I will build up that unit instead of the hand weapon one.
Great thoughts, I appreciate it!
