There are 2 main strategies-Offensive and defensive.
Offensive is charging the enemy marching towards him using Incantation of Urgency to boost your movement.
Units used for this tactic include Light and heavy horsemen, Chariots, carrion and for less speed and more power get Ushabti and bone giants.
Use Incantation of Urgency mainly and maybe Vengeance on the turn before you charge to get ride of a rank and certainly righteous smiting on the turn you charge especially on the chariots(you get normal attacks again + the impact hits).
Defensive is to wait for the enemy to come to you, using Incantation of Righteous smiting to potentially double your shooting capabilities.
Units used for this tactic include Archers, screaming skull with skulls of the foe, Carrion and scorpions to flank the enemy or to march block,large blocks of spear-men or Tomb guard (20+).
Continuously Righteous smiting on Screaming skull catapult or a large blocks of archers to maximize the damage dealt by righteous smiting (20+).
If you take a rank out on every squad before they charge you will be more likely to win combats. In combat use Incantation of Summoning to stay in the fight.
I personally think defensive is better as we have low speed, good shooting capabilities and awesome magic.

Skulls of the foe
This is once again 1000pts of TK but this time rather than charging the enemy sit back and blast them with a hail of arrows a catapult and magic that lets you fire twice a turn.
15 tomb guard and 20 spear-men will be able to deal with any units left from the fight and 3 carrion will be able to march block and should be able to get you another turn of shooting.
If you are unfamiliar with any war machine you may want to swap this for more bowmen but the screaming skull catapult skulls with foe its awesome is deadly. If it one or more wounds occur because because of the catapult they automatically take a leadership test, with skulls of the foe your at -1 Leadership when taking the panic test.
The first game i played i got a massacre because on the first turn as he took out 30 orc boys as they ran off the field that they caused another unit of 30 to run off the board.

This is a small 7th edition army list which could easily turn into a legal 8th edition army by taking away the carrion and tomb scorpion and adding more horse men or start a horsemen new unit.
The scorpion will be able to take out any war machines or rear charge a unit to provide more combat resolution. The carrion would be able to flank charge units to take away their flank bonus.
The Tomb Prince goes with the other chariots and Priest goes with the light horse men.
The chariots should be able to break any enemy unit in combat and you get 2D3 + D6 + 1 impact hits due to chariot of fire , all hits on the first turn get +1 to hit (including steeds )because of the Icon of sacred eye.
This is a aggressive fast mobile army., combined with TK's awesome magic you should be able to smash even the toughest opponent.
