Wanting to serve Settra (first attempt)

    Lords:
Liche HighPriest level 4 Nehekhara with talisman of preservation and healing potion [290]

LicheHigh Priest Level 4 light with talisman of endurance and Mighty Incantations [290]

    Heroes:
Tomb Prince with Armor of Silvered Steel and Great Weapon [149] (with TG)

TomPrince with shield and armor of destiny [152] (with Skellie 49)

    Core:
SkeletonWarriors x49 with full command [226]

SkeletonWarriors x50 with full command [230]
    SkeletonArchers x15 [90] (priest bunker)
    SkeletonArchers x15 [90] (priest bunker)

    Special:
Tomb Guard x29Full command and banner of the undying legion [410]

    Ushabtix6 with champion [310]

    Rare:
    ScreamingSkull Catapult [xx]

    ScreamingSkull Catapult [xx]

    Total: 2417

First list attempt from the feed back I got on the main TK forum so far. Have almost 85 points to work with so...

    My concerns are:
Will that skeleton block be ok without a hero to improve its WS or give it hatred? thinking of adding necrotect with a cheap-o magic item to fill out points

Will the 2 SSC's be enough or should i invest in a war machine hunting unit? (main opponents will be EMP, HE, DE, SK)

Do I have enough hammer to my anvil? really only have the ushabti

    Please comment
Feedback, questions, and curses on my ancestors all welcomed and appreciated

Hmm...It's a very hordey list, that's for sure. One thing you could do is switch your armor of silvered steel to armor of fortune, which will save you 10 points. Then you could cut back on a couple skeletons from your 50-man block and add in a naked prince to throw in that unit. I think the prince would be more beneficial than a necrotect.

Personally, I never leave home without my necrosphinx, I think its a very valuable addition to hunt war machines and rogue wizards. If you wanted to do that you'd have to drop the 2 skull-a-pults and free up some other points though, which you might not want to do.

I do think you're a little light on hammer units, but don't discount the combat potential of Tomb Guard. I would build them in a 7x4 formation to maximize their attacks and you'll be surprised with what they can do, killing blow really helps them pump out wounds by negating armor saves. This is further evident if you're able to get a righteous smiting off on the unit while they're in combat.

My one issue with this list would be the lack of maneuver elements. The fastest thing in your army are the ushabti at M5, other than that you'll be relying on desert wind to try and rush your army forward. If you fail to get desert wind off though, you're gonna be suckin', especially against elves. A smart elf player will just run circles around you and dominate with magic, archers, and bolt throwers and just wear you down slowly.

Also, with 2 level 4 LHP's you may want to try the Casket of Souls over the skull-a-pults. The bonus power dice you'll get plus the Light of Death might be more beneficial for your army than the 'pults. Doing so would free up some points to strengthen a third prince too (if you decide to go that route).

Yes i was noticing my lack of movement and hammer units shortly after i posted this list and after reading your comments on my other thread I'm looking to start up a list with some chariots and possibly some mounted archers. All in all i have plenty of time to look into multiple list options; I won't be purchasing anything till june anyways.

Was Definatly drooling over the Light of Death and again your winning me over on running princes for my melee units. Thanks again for all the great feedback

Yeah, I wouldn't abandon your hordey list, It's a sound strategy, I would just be careful that you don't neglect the units that will actually win you the battle by focusing too much on those horde elements. In the end, you're still going to need to kill off your enemy in order to win, and you can't do that with skeletons alone.

I'm definitely a fan of chariots and I think horse archers are really underrated. While their BS2 stinks, they are able to do some useful things by vanguarding into an enemy flank and harassing war machine crews or enemy light infantry/archers. One thing you can do too, is take a cheap priest (level 1 or 2), throw him on a steed and give him lore of death with a ruby ring of ruin. Death has spirit leech which you can use to target enemy characters, or you can use the ring to harass enemy units. Either way, you vanguard him up with a small horse archer unit and basically force your opponent to divert some fire or a unit to go after them. It's a little way to give your opponent something else to think about.

I would definitely take a casket instead of one of the skullapults. And you can usually get away with cutting the skellie units down to 40, saving a cool 80 points. That pretty much pays for the third prince. Dropping the talismans (they won't save your priests in melee, just prolong the agony!) and the mighty incantations, and you're most of the way to four chariots. 30 TG is ideal, but the acceptable minimum is 21 in a 7x3 formation, including the prince... And you don't need to cut quite that deep to finance the chariots.

Ya gonna stick with the horde list And should have this one tweaked and updated later tommorow

Thanks for the input on the magic items. Still learning all those pros and cons. With 40 skellies a unit that does reduce the size of those flanks. Thanks for all the input

I'm liking this new list a lot. I wouldn't worry too much about a command group on your chariots, maybe a standard bearer for help with CR...but being that they're more of a support hammer its not entirely necessary. With those extra points I would probably throw in a dispel scroll on one of your liche priests, I think having a spare dispel scroll laying around is always beneficial.

That being said, this list looks great and should perform well. Good luck!
