This is a slightly weird list for me, sort of a return to my older style of play without the support of numbers in large blocks of Bowmen and Tomb Guard. I feel it has speed and punch, and if positioned well could smash through the foe.
Palos, Tomb King w/ Spear of Antarak, Chariot of fire, Icon of rulership, majik shield and armor.
Prince Metehemnet w/ Shapesh, armor, great weapon and Vambraces.
Quebeseneuf the falcon, Heirophant w/ the Cloak and Nef's plaques.
Tuthmosis, priest on steed w/Staff of Ravening or x2 Dispel.
3Chariots w/Undying banner
4 Ushabti, led by Metehemnet(prince)
Screaming Skull Catapult
total of 1992
The Catapult likely(?) lies in a corner so as not to be blocked by the advance from the other corner, with fast movement I can redeploy the chariots to hit the faster enemy, or head off catapult hunters.
The Giant and Ushabti likely advance with one or both Scorpions. They are covered by the priest on the steed, while the Heirophant with the cloak starts with the catapult, helps send up the carrion to hit war-machines, and joins the chariots and Constructs when heavy fighting is joined.
Clearly I can't afford to have units split up too much, they are meant to hit one part of the enemy quickly and hard, crush it, than continue as a single entity(as much as able.)
Well? Bets on me getting creamed? I'll post the results after my games(a friendly tourney) in one week. If all goes well I'll take this to a second(prize laden) tourney...
could be interesting, although why is your prince in with the ushabti? he will just slow them down. put him in a chariot and get him to join a chariot unit.
also id run the steed priest with scrolls, magic can hurt constructs.
possibly drop the catapult and 3rd chariot unit for a second bone giant? and the carrion for a 3rd scorpion. true construct army! also id drop the kings CoF and IoR, and give him the 4+ward, and also move the vambraces onto him.
for the prince, (if hes in a chariot) a flail and shapesh should do. possibly could move the CoF or IoR here?
Iwas thinking of dropping my prince for an Icon Bearer actually as I figured he can boost the staying power of my constructs. I wondered about a third scorpion, but I don't have the model and am loathe to give up my birds. I find them to be more reliable than ICFB(which I hardly use these days)
As for a prince slowing down the Ushabti? I've had a couple of games where a Antarak wielding Prince ran with them to heal damage, also, his incantation let them often move more quickly since they were away from my main sources of magic, King and priests...
(Which makes me wonder if a High Priest might not be better to lead a construct heavy force... but than no Chariots so I am sticking to the King.)
The reason for the IoR on the King, and the Fire is that if he leaves his unit, which sometimes happens forcibly,
I want him to pose a threat on his own, being able to remove ranks(on flanks) is a big deal to beating the odds against large blocks of troops.
All in all though Deceiver, I appreciate the feedback and am likely gonna rearrange some units...
that second Bone Giant is very tempting, even though the times I've tried running two, they were never a stellar success. However, I was forgetting that they remove ranks and was also sending them in alone. Foolish mistakes.
two giants....? Yeah. I think so.
And an Icon Bearer.
The Prince isn't even allowed to join the Ushabti unit.
Every man is the architect of his own fortune.
Ofcourse he can, and could be a nice addition to the unit with antarhak. I had my king thrown into my Ushabti unit by a giant last game (atleast he wasnt eaten this time!) The only problem is the reduced movement, but magic can compensate for that nicely.
Certainly looks like an interesting list to play. Do let us know how it goes!
I would really not take the Icon of Rulership myself though. Making the King US 5 means he can be singled out by missle fire while within a group. That's going to increase the liklihood that he gets forcibly ejected from a unit. I'd leave him US 4 and just join him with another unit if the one he's in gets smushed. Chariot of Fire is always ace though ^_^
Also why 6 carrion? So they can keep rank busting ability after a casualty?
