Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok well as you know TK only have 2 lords.... i was wondering which lord would be best agains HOC
1)TK..... chariots core, good all around, 2 incantations, powerful in combat..(do chariots NEED to be core??)
2)LHP..... 2 3D6 incantations, decent in combat(???), ok all around..(maybe just 2 liche and a TK??)
3)LHP(with casket)..... 2 3D6 incantations, not easy to kill in casket, casket is awesome(Ccant move/ no hill??)
4)Khalida..... bowmen poison, bound item brill, smiting automaticaly cast, (drains points??)
with the details i have shown above which lord would seem the best choice for a Combat/Magic army??
1- The Tomb King with a DoE inside a unit of Tomb Guard with the Icon of Rakaph is a monster. He is one of the premiere character killers in the game, on the charge he will get 4 automatic S7 (2 in magic, 2 in CC) attacks considering you get Smiting off on his unit. He is the most common choice for competitive lists because of the fact that he does make chariots core, freeing up more special slots for the amazing special units we have.
2- Why would you ever want to get into CC with either a Liche Priest or a High Liche Priest. The HLP will be your Hierophant in anything under 3k, so why you would ever want to get him into CC is beyond me. His magic potential is amazing, give him the Cloak and Mighty Plaques and he will do fine.
3- Never, ever, EVER put your Hierophant on the Casket. All it does is scream to your opponent, "CHARGE ME PLEASE!" You will get charged, you will lose, and you will crumble.
4- Khaldia is always a solid choice if you have the correct army setup. She's a bit pricey, but brings alot to the table.
Overall, most people will go with the Tomb King not only because he is out best CC character and the only way we can get S7 in CC, but also he makes chariots core and lets Skeleton Warriors take a magic banner.
Spector pretty much summed it all up, just want to put my vote in for the King too. Having core chariots allows you to keep your special slots open for other awesome choices, and it meas you are less inclined to have to take worse core choices (cav and swarms mainly)
Khalida can be a fantastc option too, as she is essentially a TK. She makes chariots core AND gets 2x D6 incants just like the King (Spector found something from GW comfirming that ) Only think is, against chaos, her lack or armour may let her down, as wll her cost as you really need to spend more points on units.
Back on topic, go with the King every time against chaos as you won't beat them front on in combat so need to core chariots to get into the flanks. It would help to know what sort of chaos army it will be in terms of composition though...
Save you bothering about with the address, Ive added the thing you are looking for as an attatchment. I had to crop it a little as the file was originally too big, but basically it is an email reply someone received when they emailed the question to GW.
A few things:
First off, you can't post links to other forums here, LO will ****** them out so to say.
Now, if your looking for the e-mail I posted, its in the post above thanks to Deceiver.
If you would like to read the entire post however, here is the link
I say, A TK, because, His hard hitting power is very confusing for the enemy. He needs to disspell your TK incanations. As said before, unit of Tomb Gaurd with Icon of Sacred eye. He hits on a 2+ most of the time. Make cheap core units, like swarms, light cav. And get units of Tomb Guard and Ushabti. Get 3 liche priests and hope some of your incantions come through!
I should not go for casket, IF your Incantion of the casket is through, you'll get 2D6+2. CHaos has got Ld 8 most of the time, so you won't kill much.
