new to Tomb Kings

i have just finished my Dark Elves and i want to put a Tomb Kings list for my gf, and she is going to convert the entire thing to look like anubis troops, cause she really likes dogs.
consequently ushtabi are going to fill up the special choices, but for now she just wants 500 pts to get a hang of the rules. being totaly unkown to them i made a list that might work just not sure

Liche priest
plaque of incantaions
talisman of protection

10 warriors with bows and armor

10 warriors with spears and armor

10 warriors with spears and armor

basically this is going to sit back and shoot and magic the enemy. when they are weak and fianlly get across the board the warriors will deal with them. what would people recomend

Drop the spears on the skeletons as the extra attacks aren't going to be worth much on them. HW/Shield is much better as they will win through CR rather than kills. The Light Armor on the bowmen is also useless, as they can be ressurected fairly easily. For your Liche Priest, give him the Hieratic Jar and the Cloak of the Dunes, much better setup for him.

You talking about Border Patrol list? If so, then this is legal, but if not, then you must to use two characters, because TK army always must have one Hierophant(Liche priest or Liche High priest) and one army general(Tomb Prince or King).
Do you know that Spears are crap? You need to survive longer with skeletons, not to kill, because they cant kill inought.Neferras Plague worth to use only on Liche High Priest.

If you are going to start at 500points, i would suggest beginning with a Border Patrol force. The rules for those are here:

And most people will be ok with you usin that at low points.

the best (all round) BP list i can come up with for TK is
Liche Priest with Cloak of the Dunes
20 Skeleton Bowmen
Scarab Swarm
5 Light Horsemen
Screaming Skull Catapult.


If you want to stick to normal rules, then you will need to take 2 heroes, a Hierophant Priest, and a General Prince. They will take almost half your points, and your two core choices will fill out the rest. With this option Id suggest:
Prince with Collar of Shapesh and Great Weapon
Priest with Cloak of the Dunes
16 Skeleton Bowmen (as they come in boxes of 16)
2 Scarab Swarms (blister of two)


I would suggest starting at 1K though, and definitely get a battleforce to begin with. The chariots and Skelies are great and the Horsemen (should be made as light cav) are occasionally handy. The battleforce combined with a Prince and the two Priests from the blisters give a decent 800point ish army.
When expanding to 1K, definitely get hold of a Screaming Skull Catapult and a Tomb Scorpion.

Tomb kings can be a really hard army to win with in smaller games (500- 150, but rules the battle field at bigger games (2000+).

Lol in my opinion Tomb Kings have some of the best models Games Workshop has made. I wouldn't buy outside the Tomb King range.

Im guessing you were referring to the Anubis conversion theme?
There may be a way of using the Anubis Ushabti head on Characters, etc, but that will involve buying a LOT of Ushabti (bearing in mind you will want atleast a unit of 4 later on)
The basi skellies, etc will probablt be quite hard to convert, unless Anubis has some specific theme which im not aware of.

Just out of interest, could i get a link to these wargods of anubis models? Thanks.
