Heavy and light horsemen are some of the units i've never used in my army. I don't think they are worth taking. Am I right or is there something I'm missing here? Heavy horsemen only comes with average armoursave and crap stats. The Light horsemen loose some of the benefits of normal fast cavalry as undeads only are able to hold when charged. So I just wonder if there is any reason to even consider to take them?
99% of TK players agree with you. There are some niche roles where our cavalry may work, but overall, no they aren't worth it.
Well i must disagree.....i will often field light cavalry to accopany a second liche priest on horseback and i have field whit sucess a regiment of 15-16 heavy cavalry with or without icon bearer. Add the banner of the unliving and you got a mobile, fear outnumbering unit that can heal itself and pack more punch than a normal unit of skellies.
I would not charge a unit of khorne knights but against softer target it can be devastating.

Let slip the dogs of war.
Bretonian (over 5k points)
Tomb king (over 5k points)
Ogre kingdom (4.5k points)
Tyranid (3k points but not even half assemble, new army)
Mostly they are useless as has been said, but I use a unit of 5-6 light horsemen in my army, normally to accompany my LP on a horse with the staff of ravening or if there is an enemy i need to redirect a charge against or a frenzied enemy etc- it makes a good, fast sacrifice unit without the LP.
Guess I am one of those 1% TK players
I wholeheartedly agree with Panzer except you can win with against khorne knights if you flank em, and probably will win as well.
I dont know if you actually have tried them or just looked at the stats and thought to yourself "meh" cause they are far from useless. To further build up the unit into an even more effective unit you could add the Icon bearer with war banner(and keep BoUL on the unit, or vice versa).
Now as you can see you got a big unit with an insane amount of CR.
It´s not supposed to be used as normal knights, just look at the price. Their strength is as above, CR. Infact think of them as a fast moving infantry block.
This unit have been successful in tournament settings and does work, very well.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. I think I'll try'em out see if they work for me.
I am also one of the 1% who uses them. I always field 16 light horseman 2 grps of 8. Just like the other person said, they are almost like fast moving skeletons. I always use them for support, flank charging as much as possible. They wont do wut normal horsemen would but for support they will give u the extra str bonus to help u win the combat and they enemy will have fun with the breaking. Also its nice to fire a few arrows then charge, you never know what u can pick off. I play lizzies alot so picking off his scouts then charging is nice, FAST MOVING FEAR UNITS WORK imo.
o lol i didnt know that 4 across didnt make a rank....hmmm.....im stupid
