Ok i have 2000+ and i will be playing my friends in a 2v2 game. Im teamed with my friend and he plays lizzies, were facing ogres and dwarves. I pretty much know how to deal with dwarves but my friend just got 2000 points in his new ogre army. Wtf do i do? I have 2 swarms & scorpions, MY GIANT OF SKELETAL AWESOMENESS, 6 chariots, 64skeles, 16 horseman(i like to use light horsemen), and wut shall i do for leaders? a TK or TP? i was thinking HLP. Any suggestions will be great. THanks!
Against Ogres chariots are your friend so I would advise a TK over a HLP to make them core. Being able to outrange their charge without magic is a nice advantage. Also their impact hits will have most Ogres saving on 6's or maybe even not at all. Just watch for Str 7 characters and units. The chariots also will help outmanuver the dwarves and support your Lizzard allies.
Their magic phase is sorta like ours is being relentless. Just watch where he is trying to cast and what. Sometimes it's ok to let a spell through to make it harder for him to cast later. Remember you dispel 'remains in play' spells with power dice and every army generates two. This'll be the only time we get to use the our power dice.
The rest depends on your preferences and your opponents lists. The Screaming Skull catapult may be a better item to bring then the Giant. Most foes will destroy either the crew or the catapult but not both forgetting we can bring back one as long as the other still lives. And given the leadership of Ogres the Skulls of the Foe upgrade maybe a very good way to send them running.
The Giant will be a cannon sponge. (Due to trigger happy dwarves)
Bear in mind these are merely opinions based on my few engagements with a local Ogre Kingdom player.
Do not question the dice gods for their wrath is swift and terrible.
well thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately what i listed is what i own. I wish i had a catapult but its expensive. And how would the ogre's have a 6+ armor save against chariots? that doesnt seem right...but w/e. Thanks for the response.
TK chariots are str 4, Ironguts have heavy armor.
Sounds like a rough game. Dwarves and Ogres are tough. Let's hope the lizzies bring enough poison darts.
haha thats basically all my friend does, lots and lots of poison darts.
First of all chariots are a risk, Ogres have a 12 inch charge range (14 if its a tyrant with longstrider) and any unit of ironguts with bullgorger on them will lay the smack down on your chariots. Not to mention the mandatory tyrant running around with them.
You do dispel remains in play spells with powerdice, but OK can get a whole crapload of remains in play if you don't do so hot on dispelling, you also dispel our remains in play on a 7+ so you need to use both powerdice just to dispel one. I would recommend only letting trollguts through and dispelling that in your phase, that way you made the butcher take an auto wound for nothing. And our spells only get harder if we try to cast the same spell numerous times in the same phase, and not by that much. 3+ then 6+ then 9+, and it only gets harder if we successfully cast the spell.
It would be nice for you to take a casket to give him the -1 to cast, and the SSC with skulls of the foe.
Honestly, in my fights against the undead army's of either flavor, its a pretty tough match. Ogres ignore your fear, and are arguably almost as good at choosing where to fight with their high movement rate, even when going against urgency and vanhels.
your other option is letting the lizzies take care of the ogres while you take on the dwarves. Their cold blooded and tough saurus warriors would probably do better against ogres, especially since you have neither a casket or SSC (both of which play havoc with ogre armies)

First off i woul advise be taking the Enkhil's kanopi (dispel all remain in play spell)
and equip your tomb king whit the flail of skull (unsaved wound become 2) in a chariot, with your king in the unit you WILL get the charge and you should win against almost any ogre unit. Just watch for those str 7.I would just make sure to send skelli unit against dwarf and let lizzy heavy inf. unit suported by your chariots take care of the ogres .
Let slip the dogs of war.
Bretonian (over 5k points)
Tomb king (over 5k points)
Ogre kingdom (4.5k points)
Tyranid (3k points but not even half assemble, new army)
with chariots you probably will get the charge. against one of probably anywhere from 8-10 3-ogre units (assuming your opponent does the smart thing and plays MSU), and unless you can wipe out the unit in one turn (which has a decent chance if a character is part of the charge) you run a very big risk of getting charged by bullgorger enhanced Ironguts that just smashed your chariots into kindling. I have never been a fan of putting characters on monstrous mounts or in chariots, and especially not against an army that can get so many str 7 attacks in it.
I guess the biggest question is, how many butchers does your opponent run in 2k? Because if its 3 like many OK players do, then your looking and several dispel dice and a couple scrolls that will be aimed at messing up your urgency incantations since you don't have a casket or SSC with smiting for him/her to worry about.

im pretty sure my friend will have only one butcher.....tho i cant garuntee that. He just got his army so he's got no experience with ogres yet. This will be our first match. Exactly wut can get strength 7 that i should worry about? and hes tyrant will have strength 8 i believe.
In terms of Strength 7+ watch out for the characters. The best the troops can do is Strength 6. But they can get a lot of attacks.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
