Welcome to Librarium Online!
I know the new book isn't out yet, but is anyone else getting a little annoyed about the rumours for the new VC's? It seems that they are trapsing all over Khemri rules:
1) now any undead unit (which is all of them) can be healed with a spell
2) this spell can be attempted more than once by a wizard per phase until they are successful
3) Pretty much all units getting better and a points reduction, with a HW/S skele only 8pts for the new vampires.
4) A corpse cart with another bound spell which makes undead strike first
5) 100pts Bloodline powers and 100pts magic items, with a whole new decent magic item list?!
6) A spell similar to our casket of souls, where every unit is targeted, taking a wound on a 4+?! Far safer than a casket!
The only thing we seem to have left is shooting, not a lot really. I only hope this means that Tomb Kings will eventually get the same treatment, and that we can live safe in the knowledge that the scorpion won't get a points increase, as everything seems to be getting better in the new books, or staying at the same 'cheap' price (look at 75pts for a corpse cart)
I know this is a rant, its not so much about their new ultra-competitive rules, but the fact that they seem to be stealing ideas that should belong to a Tomb Kings Army!!!
I know this is on the Tomb Kings section, but us Vampires like to sneak around a bit. And in my sneaking I found this.
I don't really know what to say, as I don't know a great deal about Tomb Kings. I guess I could point out that Vampires, fluff-wise, are supposed to have originated in Khemri. Theoretically, that gives us permission to use a few of your rules? 0:
Personally, I would prefer that the two armies are kept as different as possible. I mean, it's a little difficult in some regard; they're both undead, they both rely heavily on magic to sustain them and combat the enemy. They both come from the same place, so have a fair bit of history in common.
I think one interesting thing that is being done is that Vampires are featuring in more than just the command roles, now. The Knights of the Blood Keep and Varghulf are both rumoured to use the Vampire Rules, meaning our army is becoming more like a Vampire Counts army, and less of a Vampire-led army. That's one major difference at least.
So, perhaps it isn't all bad?
I'm hoping not, but at this stage I still don't know. So, yeah... I'm just going to wait and see.
I did think they were looking a little too TK when i began to give the rumors a read.
Ahh well, to be honest id like a second ed. of the current TK book, where our skellies get a pts reduction! apart from that im happy the way things are with us.
As for the VC, sure they look powerful now, just as the OMG WTF ASF HE's did with rumors. But as soon as the army is out, people will fnd ways to beat it.
Yep yep, when High Elves were in the pre-release states, with all the rumours going around I thought my Wood Elves would not stand a chance against them, but now I'm just massacring most of them They have a big advantage and an even bigger flaw... I'm pretty sure the new VC will be same. We are going to look at most of the VC players be using alot of the new hammer units that'll cost around 200pts a model to over 500pts for a unit.. that'll leave their army pretty small and very easily flanked. Since I play both TK (Starting now) and VC, I couldnt wait to get my hands on the new VC army book.
Anima Tactics - try it out!
Ive been hearing alot about how all the VC spells are cast like TK ones (Never fail) but without a casting order.
And about the fluff, TK and VC fluff are only similar in the fact that Nagash was responsible for both of them. He trained the TK priests himself but the elixir of life that the VC used was stolen from him when he was eventually killed.
I never understand why people think skeletons are that bad of warriors, or even goblins for that matter. When it comes to close combat, you're a T3, 4+ save warrior. All WS2 means is that everyone hits you on a 3+ and you hit elves on 5s.
Lastly, OMFG - a ward save? For skeletons? You must be kidding. They're not Brettonians.
I've just found out that new VC's can take ward and regen saves against crumbling, and have banners which give entire units regen saves/ward saves of some level!
Wow, Vampire Counts seem to be getting majorly buffed at the moment (a good army already, glad i am going to collect them), but to be honest its only a matter of time before our undead will be getting the same treatment. I like Bretts idea of it being a Vampire army instead of Vampire lead army, thats good, because you cant really rely on just one thing in your army nwo can you, it has to work together like a machine. I'd like to see the day our skellies get ward saves, but possibly only through special conditions, like banners or characters with an enchanted item etc.
