First. I am new to TK and WFB...
Does anyone run the Ushabti 4 or 5 wide, or god forbid 3x2?
I personally enjoy using ushabti and I run them 3 wide. But if i had an extra model, i would prefer to use 4 ushabti. I've never heard of someone using a unit of five. Four is the best with 12 attacks in and good unit strength.
4 is probably the best number, good amount of attacks and wound. 3 will only be able to give you a bit of a support role and chariots could probably do that as well.
As for using them 3*2, absolutely no use and a complete waste of points. Those 3 models in the back are doing nothing to help the unit and will be a waste of points. As far as I know (it may go on US not numbers) I'm pretty sure that you need 5 models wide to get a rank, since thats the way it goes for cavalry, so they wouldn't even be giving you a point of rank bonus. If you want 6, it would be better to use 2 units of 3.
Why run them in 2 rnaks of 3? lots of extra cost and you get nothing out of it.
When i 1st played, i used them 3 wide, but soon found them to not be that good, so i dropped them until i picked up a 4th.
Now, 4 wide i find them to be awesome. They bering something to the TK army that no other unit does, good killing power.
Ive tried a 5wide unit once, just because i had a few points spare at 2.5K. Found them too difficult to position and move though, so id advise against it.
4 wide optimum imo.
I'd say 4 wide is the best from what I've seen. I don't have any Ushabti right now. I just picked up my first SSC to replace my Bone Giant (I hate my bone giant) My next unit will be 3 Ushabti and than a 4th when I can afford it.
I tried 5 wide once against Orc&Goblins. Allthough they did a lot of damage it got smacked. I think 3 is best because it's easy to flank units and I think 3 wide does enough damage.
