I'm not totally sure on this... But from my understanding Khemri wasn't a desert back during the height of their empire. Wasn't that a result of the skaven poisoning the river Mortis? Basically meaning that I don't think there is any problem with them having horses, the only reason they are rare is because the Khemri empire is very old and they were just starting to breed them.

I got the impression that it was more arid than most areas it was much more lush around the rivers and spread out further. The River Vitae was constructed to provide water to the inner land (I believe it was man-made, I shall have to confer)

you know i was thinking we need a pyramid !! Rare choice - bound level 2D6, summons 3D6 skeletons back that can be placed in any unit of skeletons or multiple skeleton units, has a range of 12", causes terrror, cant move, also works as a standard bearer, or maybe is an item that a standard bearer may bring to batle much like the casket of souls and priest's ..... something to repersent the unyeilding power of the TK's |

My 3 pence worth (boy I hate inflation) Pyramids may work for the Necron's, but I cant see them really working in the TK fluff. How is it going to move? You're either going to have a big stone pyramid stomping about with legs (like baba yagas cottage), or anti grav....and I dont think GW are going Erik Von Daniken on us (thats Lizardman fluff )As for stationary pyramids? Well, either the army is going to quickloy contruct a quick 2 hour botch job (in lieu of building warmachines)....or there just happens to be 'one they made earlier' lying around on the battlefield. If that was the case you wouldn't be able to walk from town to town without tripping over them. I think to boast our strength we just need a buff to the Casket Of Always Dispelled (that expensive bit of junk that has no magic ablilty against a competent opponent). And cheaper skellies cos Blagpire Counts get lgt armour and always march (I have never seen one single opponent NOT have them with a vampires range). << My happy facehehe [Edit] Egyptians didn't have chariots until around the 16th century BC (they were intruduced by Hyksos invaders), and when they became a main part of the army they were used as supporting fire, mobile bowmen basically. So I think (to give the army more flavour) GW should revise the way the TK chariot works. Make them weaker in combat and make them better at shooting (can shoot twice with bows, or give them 40K's twin linked i.e. reroll to hit.) Also, change the way horse archers work...make them feel more ancient. Give them the 'cantabrian circle'. More a Roman tactic (if I am correct) but Arab and Egyptians had similar tactics. Make horse arches worth buying. Give them the 'twin linked' rule. Calling the 'Dance of Death' or something as the skeleton horse archers circle round peppering the enemy with arrows.

Parthian tactics could also be cool, they can march, fire once, and then retreat. Probably leading the enemy into a trap (that was my understanding of what the Mongols did) Pyramid smacks too much of Necrons, I think it was said before, and a magically floating one would just be going even further in that direction. Next we'll be able to raise our skeletons back from the dead OH WAIT. I personally would like to see some clay golems. After all, this isn't just an Egyptian pastiche, but the Jews have a lot of mythology based around Golems. They'd suffer from stupidity unless they were near a Hierophant (mainly because they are given purpose through the Chem inserted into their mouth, basically a tablet/piece of paper with some instructions on it) and the Hierophant wasn't around then they'd only be obeying their Chem which is limited in scope. I don't know, maybe that'd be filling a space the Ushabti already inhabit?

It's funny you guys mentioned this. I was just thinking yesterday that it'd be cool to have a Monolith-type model. But then I thought about how it would move and scrapped it. The Casket already doesn't move, I really don't think we'd need another rare that is stationary. The Casket of Souls isn't a piece of junk! How dare you make that statement! It's awesome, but it is a utilitarian model not one of overt power. No one that really expects it to go off, but there's no denying that it makes the magic phase much more exploitable because most armies are going to throw dice/scrolls at it. That's fewer dice/scrolls to be thrown at key incantations.Chariots aren't that good in combat anyway unless led by a King or Prince, aside from the impact hits because they're still being driven by Skeletons. I wouldn't be adverse to Light Chariots being better ranged units, but I see no reason to further reduce their combat abilities. I still think there should be a heavier Chariot unit as well. I'd much rather see two different Chariot unit types than two types of Horsemen (who if they remain in the list, should be combined into one unit with all of the existing options). <puke> Improvements to Skeletons are pretty much a foregone conclusion. It's just a matter of how GW chooses to improve them. Will they simply make them cheaper ala Vampire Counts or will they make ours better (since we don't have the raising, marching or combat improving capabilities/items of that other army). I'm actually hoping for the latter. I'd rather get what I pay for at 8-10 points per model than simply have cheaper skellies. The clay golem idea is somewhat redundant with the Ushabti in the list, I think and they need improvements anyway. They're the most expensive Ogre-sized model in the game, costing the same as a Dragon Ogre base, but DOs are much better. Last edited by Enigmatik1; November 7th, 2009 at 15:37. |

I still reckon I'm going to make some Clay Golems and just use the Ushabti statline. Yes I have read Feet of Clay too much, but come on!: wOrDS iN tHe heArT CAnnoT bE TakEn It might be interesting to have a few more artillery options rather than the standard SSC. Don't get me wrong, the SSC is a great machine, (although I think the model needs an update) but some more variety would be nice. Just currently the SSC is almost an automatic choice alongside the CoD for your Hierophant, why not have a few viable options that are of equal tactical value against the right people?

I wouldn't be adverse to that, but you could argue the Casket is a war machine in and of itself. Hell, I treat it as one. At any rate, I wouldn't mind a bolt thrower! |
