I know I probably wouldn't want to use one in my army... even though Sphinxes happen to be part of Egyptian mythology I don't think they should be used as a monstrous mount

I have to 2nd most everything Phoenix said - these would be huge steps for the TK's. Also, in reference to the Monstrous Mount discussion: I'm sure it's a breach of fluff, but a brass/jade armored skeletal dragon would look boss.

How is a Sphinx a break of fluff, and why doesn't it fit with the army. When you think of Egypt, surely a Sphinx is one of the 1st things you think of? GW have a habit of rewriting fluff a bit. How about Chariots were the mounts for Kings, but Sphinx were legendary creatures, and the LPs made some as Undead Constructs, which they animated... hmm, i'm getting more ideas for it now. Ill edit my 1st post soon with Sphinx info.

Err no, it's pyramids

Personally I can't see any way a tomb king/tomb prince would ride a sphinx... those were just statues right? Tomb kings and princes would want to fight the way they did when they were alive - on foot or in a chariot.

While im not a fan of the sphynx as a monstrous mount (i do not think we should have any monstrous mounts) the sphynx as a rare unit would be good.


Id like it tobe a very tough defensive unit with low strength or few attacks. make it like a fortress. and have an anti crumbling rule to fix this aswell.

What i would like to see is the ability to upgrade unit banners to have a 1D3 urgency, allowing us to march, and also making our magic phase something to once again fear. Also, making the jar more like a power stone would be very nice, as in, additional spell, but more then one per army.

Tomb Guard:

I'd like to see these guys improved a LOT as they are only mediocre troops as they are, while they are supposed to be elite soldiers! Ideas for improvement would be:

- Giving them (an option for) heavy weapons
- Giving them heavy armour
- Weapon Skill 4 (at LEAST)

My new tomb guard unit would be:

- Tomb Guard - points/model: 14
Weapons & Armour: Hand Weapon, Heavy Armour and shield

Weapon Skill: 4
Strenght: 4
Toughness: 4
Attacks: 2 (3 for a champion)

Special rules: Tomb blades, undead

USHABTI:

These guys need great weapons and heavy armour I believe!

My new unit:

Ushabti: points/model 65

all stats stay the same

Unit Size 3+

Weapons & Armour: Great Weapons and Heavy Armour (giving them Strenght 8 and a 3+ armour save)

Special Rules: Undead Constructs





Another idea I've had is to let Priests and High Priests also generate power dice. They cannot use these dice to cast spells (they continue to cast incantations as normal) however these power dice are to be used to dispell remain in play spells. You have NO idea how ****ed we are when someone casts Flames of the Phoenix on our Hierophant...

Plz all stop saying "we want heavy armour for all units" if you want a army with 3+ save, play chaos or 40k!?

Tk is a egypt themed army (a desert ppl) heavy amour in bronze, moving in sand and the heat from the sun...

The bad WS is a undead trade(none charater) , all undead have it...

Wouldn't it be better to move the TK units more away from the VC counter parts??

GWs for Ushabti on top of ritual blades!? Nah. S8 would just be insane. And one of their key advantages is that they have high Str and dont strike last all the time. Also, LA would fit, as BGs have HA.

No doubt Tomb Guard are elite, just remember that they're an elite skeleton.

I like em the way they are now.

Edit:

I just thought this up: How to make an Icon Bearer worth it? He needs a little buff in power, but mainly it's his options to take powerful banners that normal unit standards can't take on their own.

How about this for an 'uber' banner?

100 pts - Unit does not suffer crumbling through combat resolution.
