Does it matter if I use spears or sword/board for my light cavalry?
Yes, it matters as Light Cav have neither of those weapons. Light Cav for Tomb Kings have bows, and should be modeled as such generally.
The construction box shows them with spears/shield....and possibly sword/shield (box instructions aren't great). Art in the TK book has a drawing of a light cav unit with a bow, but other figure pictures seem to show that they have both spears/swords and shields....so I am kind of confused.
The guys with with the spears and shields are the Heavy Cav models. The battalion box should come with enough bits to do either light or heavy cav. Light uses the bows, heavy uses the Spears and shields.
Unless you want a large unit of Cav (10-15), go with a smaller unit of Light (5-6) instead of Heavy.
Thanks for all the replies! Bows it will be!
There is a rather steep learning curve to this game, not only in terms of lore and rules, but tactics and just simple things like what is allowed to go on what army member!
