I have to admit, I got into tomb kings because I loved the Ushabti Jackle. I thought it was the coolest looking unit in the game. Well at 1000 points they take up 1/5th of my army and are a draw for everything on the board to shoot at. In the last game I played they only got one kill due to a charge by a knight unit with hatred with a character and a good cannon shot. I guess my question if what does everyone think of them and how viable of a unit are they? Are they good at 1000, 1500, 2000 points?
Didnt you/we already cover this in another thread?

Personally i don't use them at 1K, but anything above i do, and ii always try to use 4 if poss. 3 at 1K do fine though.
We did but I did not get much for tactics on them. I am trying to figure out how to use them as well.
They need good magical support. Allow them to be charged (though soemtimes it cant be helped) and they will crumble more likely than not, especially if only 3 strong.
Use your magic to give them a 15" charge range, and hit hard. They can charge most units fromt on and do some good damage, much like Krox and similar, but you can heal Ushabti too, AND grant them extra attacks.
What kinda tactics are you looking for exactly? They can make good flankers to a unit that has been sponged by skellies, but be sure that the skellies wont kill them by being too weak and losing you ComRes overall.
Basically the TK's combat units breakdown into the defensive and offensive, defensive units are normally those units with high static CR like Skellie infantry blocks, these are the units you want your opponent to charge and get stuck in combat with, you then bring in your offensive units (Ushabti + Scorpions) to assist the tarpits.Completely agree with what Pho says here Ushabti are definitely an elite unit, and one of my golden rules for the TK is "never throw elite units into a lost cause combat", your opponent can just beat up on the skellies gaining him CR that will take its toll on the Ushabti. They can make good flankers to a unit that has been sponged by skellies, but be sure that the skellies wont kill them by being too weak and losing you ComRes overall.
Ushabti have average toughness and neither the wounds nor armour to deal with being charged, but offensively they are devastating (My unit of four chalked up a steam tank kill last week lol). Their charge range even with movement incantations is not enough to outdistance many fast moving cavalry units, don't get me wrong Ushabti can beat units head on if they are in range but that relies on consistent good rolling whilst the combination suggested by Pho is much more reliable.
Lure your opponents units into the skellies and then hit the flank. You get your rank, standard and outnumbering hopefully, plus 9 or 12 S6 attacks. There isnt much in the game that can stand up to that kind of abuse!
How do you expect to defeat me when I am forever and you are just a man...
