hey guys I was wondering I normally dont play chariots in my lists but I was wondering what would be the most effective for a defensive list I normally play with 4 ushabti but would 3 chariots be better? in my defensive list I normally only have enough room for one or the other 2 scorps unit of ushabti and depending on the circumstances TG or carrion
With a LHP list, here is the special unit setup I usually use:
- 3x Chariots
- 4x Ushabti
- 5x Carrion
- Tomb Scorpion
And thus we see the crammed special units. I'd love to run another Tomb Scorpion, but I feel each of the other 3 units are necessary to the list. The chariots serve as flankers and flank protectors, as well as giving me a fast mobile unit. The Ushabti are my big hitters. The Carrion can do a lot of things in this list, ranging from a first turn charge to march blocking to war machine/mage hunting along with the Scorpion.
So yes, chariots are worth it in a defensive list, just don't always rush them down the field as fast as possible. Keeping them back on a flank out of war machine line of sight is an acceptable use for them. Then when the enemy closes in, smash your chariots into his flank.
