Welcome to Librarium Online!
am starting a campaign next week at my local club, everyone starts out at 500pts and your army grows by 100pts for every win you gain.
the trouble is Tomb Kings suck at small points, i have to take the two characters and that doesnt leave me with many points....
was thinking of taking
tomb prince, great weapon.
10 x skeleton warriors, bows
20 x skeleton warriors, full command + banner of the undying legion.
the thinking is that although i am outmatched by every other core troop in the entire game with the fighting character and banner i may be able to win a war of attrition.
am i deluded?
if so what should i take - bearing in mind the army has to be legal to start off - and i dont have any tomb scorpions....
Id personally go with 3 units of 10 archers, move shoot shoot, move shoot shoot, always hitting on 5+ no matter what, we can raise our dead back, we are skeletons not exactly much good in combat to start with, have prince with cloak of dunes and use him as an anti lone character/warmachine unit.
other than that id say that swarms are good they are cheap in points and relatively cheap to buy ICFB can be nasty if it is done right
hope it helps if even a little
Ask if you are allowed to use the Border Patrol rules until you get to higher points.
If so/no, my recommendations for lists are here:
http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...omb-kings.html (A Beginners Guide to Tomb Kings)
(just scroll down a little to the Border Patrol / 500pt sections)
> If they could accomodate only one core you could use:
a prince with a unit of chariots and a mounted liche priest with a unit of light horsemen.
fast and the potential to cause much damage with the chariots.
> what about saying armies of 500pts need 1 core and armies above this need 2?
> I agree with the points on tomb swarms at 45 points they flesh out a core choice and in a small game can be really useful. I managed to break a unit of 10 elf archers after chargeing them in the flank (I was lucky with the ICFB roll)
> Another thing to bear in mind with your friends, spare a thought for those of you who may go three games without a win and end up fighting an additional 300pts.
When we have played similair systems we put a maximum on the imbalance - gives the underdog a chance.
Something i've just remembered, due to the above point of possibly the worse army being outnumbered by additional points, a system that tends to work better is to start at say 1500, and then you LOSE 100-250 pts per victory. First to X wins, wins
great idea Phoenix, i'm going to suggest that to my gaming group
Oh, and to our campaign there was an additional surprise... the first 4 players to X wins (leaving us with 1Kpts each) had to team up to take on the Greater Daemons!
