Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey! I'm a new WFB player and I'm going the TK route (I like the models and the special rules).
I recently treated myself to the Casket of Souls and I'd like to bounce some conversion ideas off of those of you who be interested.
I'm looking at two things:
a) A couple of skelies are lifting the lid off the casket, giving the impression that it's being opened and the terrifying contents are being unleashed upon the unworthy (though I have no clue how I'm going to saw the lid off without destroying the rest of it).
b) Two (or four) skeletons are holding the casket aloft on poles, carrying it onto the battlefield (kinda how the Ark in Indiana Jones was carried). This would be easier to do, though I like the first better.
Whadda y'all think? All opinions welcome.

Thanks for the reply and idea! I was thinking along the same lines, either getting some small lights or (going to extremes) figuring out how to get a fog coming out of it (i.e. the dry ice effect, though ice would take too much prep time before each battle and might ruin the model).
Anyone have suggestions on how to get the lid off evenly? I think modelling saws are too large and cumbersome for the 1/4 centemeter I'm taking off. Or should I just hack the top off and use Green Stuff to create a new lid?
I LOVE that idea! Gonna rep you just for coming up with it, and there will be more once i see pics of the completed thing. But first, we need to help you on your way me thinks...
Id advise against hacking and GSing. It must be possible to take that lid off cleanly. Do you ahve the undead collectors guide? there is a casket modelled on a different base (i think, w/o looking to check). It may take a bit of work to get the Skellies (Casket Guard?) positioned right. Anyway, this lid problem... ill take a look at my casket if i can find it out and see what i can advise.
PS, lights inside would really be the icing on the cake of awesome If you could somehow model skulls inside, and light those up... wow... And if that isn't enough for a Golden Daemon already, then hooking up a dry ice machine... OMG!

Thanks, Pheonix! Truth be told, I was waiting for your input on this subject (been noting how helpful you are in other threads).
Big-picture wise, I planned to keep the regular Casket Guard standing ready to defend the Priest and crew. I was going to have either one or two skeletons holding the lid open, with the Priest in the normal position. I don't know if I should use "grunt" skeletons with no adornments, or more dressed-up skellies to do the honors.
I though up m ideal look for this conversion, though it toes the line of possibility: Skellies lifting the lid, with a mini strobe light inserted beneath a fogging effect. God knows how I'd pull this off, but I am racking my brains and hopefully I'll think of summat. First step is opening the damn lid, though.
Again, any suggestions on this first step are more than welcome!
If Skelies lifting the lid up would be a bit of a problem, i suggest not using them.
Nothing says giant magic box then the liche priest lifting the heavy lid off without help...
Have the lid supported at the centre, so the support cant be seen, and you dont need skelies, and it looks more magical.
I seriously considering an attempt at this now :p
Im also thinking fog would be a step too far, and dry ice. Also, i see no reason that a hack saw to the lid wouldnt work, if your GS skill is good enough to fix the minor damage it will cause, then go for it.
Any chance you could get your hands on some liquid nitrogen?
If you get some fine cotton wool you can pull it out so you get very fine whisps you can place inside, then with the light it would reflect off the fibres. Relatively cheap and can be difficult finding the right cotton for it.
