Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey everyone. I have some questions about when i face my brother, playing empire. Mainly i get shot down to the ground before i can even get into combat with him. By the time i can declare my charges, my chariot units are nearly dead, and my other units are halved. I am very new to Warhammer, so please don't be too harsh. Here is what models i have, and what is usually included in my army lists:
48 skeletal warriors (no weapons glued on yet, purposely so i don't make stupid decisions)
8 skeletal horseman
1 Lich priest mounted
1 Lich priest on foot
1 tomb king model on foot or chariot
Thanks for the help.
First up, TKs generally suffer in low points-value games, due to having to have at least two character, which doesn't clear up much points for other stuff. So, don't be too disheartened if you keep losing at first.
The main weakness of the Empire is a lack of any good Leadership. If you can get the SSC to fire twice (at different units), you should be able to panic two units, which can be a killer against them.
Your two Scorpions are good. Use them against warmachines. They're not going to run anywhere, are easy to kill for something coming up from underground, and are mostly expensive (ranging between 75-115 points).
I'm not too well versed in TK equipment, so I'll wait for someone who actually plays them to give any word there.
Detachments can make your life miserable. A flank charge can ruin a unit (you lose three ranks, and he gains a flank charge, and probably outnumber). They make nice shooting targets, as you can mostly fluff the rolls and still Panic them.
thanks for the advice!
Ahh the Empire Gunline. Commonly seen as not very fun to play against, its time to try a little dirty trick of your own (hopefully leading the the eventuality hat your Bro will get bored of playing and change his lit to allow a fun game)
Basically, hide everything! Get all your units behind terrain etc. put the SSC somewhere that it has good Line of Sight to most of the Empire army, but cant be seen by enemy Warmachines if possible. Have your Priests nearby to resurrect the SSC if needs be.
Secondly, Launch an all out attack with Scorpions and Tomb Swarms, from underground!
Possibly have soem Carrion looking for a 1st turn magial charge too.
With the rest of your army hidden, the wort you can do within points difference is a Draw, and if your assault goes well it should be a solid win
Bit dull game wise though, for both players. Hence the influence on your opponant to mix up his list a but so you can have some fun playing with your usual list
I agree with both. If you can't get the SSC out of LOS with his war machines, throw a set of chariots out there as a decoy for his war machines. Put the king/prince in a chariot with ward save, and demonstrate towards his war machines that have LOS to the SSC. Since the ward save prevents insta-killing the chariot, at least that one will soak up some cannon fire while you wait for the scorpions to come in and put an end to his shenanigans. Plus, dangling the king/prince out there gives you something to do, other than chanting and chucking skulls.
