    Tomb Kings in life

For a challenge thing at my local GW, we all start new armies, to build, paint and game with (same rules as the tale of four gamers from WD).

Having an undying love for Tomb Kings, I thought about taking a living army, and spice them up with Tomb King parts.

    First, a couple of questions:
    1. Good idea?
    2. Can you suggest which army book i should use to represent them?
    3. Can you suggest what models would be the best to work with?

Many thanks i advance, as i won't be on for some now.

I had planned to do an Arabian army, but you could use the same idea to represent the still living nomadic tribes that live in Khemri.

I had planned to use Muktar's desert dogs, the Arabian ogre Maneaters and Suliman le Saracen. with their robed heads they all looked like desert dwellers.

This would of squeezed into a dogs of war army (I think GW had the army book for download)

I even purchased the models for this army but sold them on E-bay when I realised I would never get them painted.

The other option would require heavily converting warriors to represent the ancient Tomb Kings when they were living - the only picture I've seen of these are at the front of the TK book. - only a picture no models

So to you answer your questions IMO
    1) good idea as a modelling project - may not be the most effective on the battlefield
    2) I would go with Dogs of War, they have a varied amount of units and it's free to download
    3) some of the old DOW miniatures might be good, if it wasn't ran through a store I would say you could look around the web but GW won't let you use non GW stuff.

Just tweaked a few capitals and spelling errors. -AFG//

Yeah, empire! Swordsmen, bowmen and kittable, human leaders. Should work a treat

Mh, difficult, fantasy has very few half naked humans, perhaps catachans or?

Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

To add to my previous post, it seems the DOW section of the UK GW site is no longer there.

However I think you may still get the stuff on the US or Australian GW sites.

Like Sb980962 I also started an Araby army using the DOW rules, although I actually almost finished it!

Obviously Araby has a slightly different look to the ancient Egyptian look of TKs but here is what I did, some of the ideas may work for what you are looking at:

For cavalry I used the Dessert Dogs as my Heavy Cavalry, with Kislev Horse Archers as Light Cav. (painted to have dark skin- Southland tribsmen

I also made my paymasters bodyguard by using High Elf torsos with human heads (mostly empire) and Tomb King Shields and Weaponry- this could give something close to the look of human TK warriors, although the helmets were wrong for what your looking for.

You can at least use Ushabti and the Chariots themselves with normal horses.

Good luck! It wont be easy but a great idea!

Call me SB, I struggled to think of a user name and now I can't change it.

What about Chaos marauders don't they have bare torsos?

Thats a good idea. Painted up correctly they would look suitably bronze age, give them TK shields and bobs your uncle
