Welcome to Librarium Online!
I dont have a WFB army yet, but I am considering starting up with Tomb Kings. The main reason though is because of Tomb Scorpions, as I love scorpions in general. Are Tomb Scorpions a good enough reason to start TK? Would I be able to use them in every game or are they not really worth using at all?
From what I understand about TKs, everyone (yes, everyone, no exceptions. *snicker*) seems to believe that every army list should have at least one scorpion, preferably two. That, and a screaming catapult as well.
Regarding their uses, they pop out from below ground and act nasty to whatever they're nearby. I'm certain there's more enlightened people here (I only want to have TK's as a second army, or maybe a first (I like dwarfs, but skellytons have the benefit of being really easy to paint.)) to give more details, but first off they're normally used to chew up warmachine crews, and I imagine that more advanced tactics would use them decently for combined flank charges...
They're like a fast unit (in how they get across the board) with the bonus of not worrying about being shot until you get there. (Bad scatter rolls aside...)
Many people (even some TK players!) say that they are far too cheaply points costed for hpw good they are, so that gives you an indication of how good they actually are!
I used to run an army (2000pts) with 4 Scorpions in
Tomb Scorpions are just amzing, I always play with at least 2 in my army and they are so cheap at 85 points that they always make their point cost and more, the model looks pretty sweet too.
Thanks guys, sounds like Scorpions rock, which is awesome
Now my question is... Tomb Kings or Vampire Counts? Two of my favourite things are scorpions and zombies (in general, not in Warhammer) so I am tossing up between a Zombie heavy VC army and a Tomb Scorpion heavy TK army. So hard to decide!
At the moment VC is a stronger army, one of the top ones if played right. Hopefully when TK gets their new book they will be brought in line with the other stronger 7th ed armies. All depends on what type of play you will be doing too I guess.
