Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello everybody! I have been reading this forum for awhile now and have found loads of invaluable information. I have had some extra time recently and thought to seek comments on a list I made for a 1,000 point mini tournament my friends and I are having. I have played only a handful of Warhammer Fantasy games, but have learned a lot from my buddies and am eager to learn more about the Tomb Kings army. This will be my first time playing in a tournament setting.
Before I post my list, these are the armies i will be fighting in the 1000 point tournament-
Orcs + Goblins
I am aware that there will be NO artillery fielded against me by any of these armies by playing practice games, and that the High Elf army is fielding some sort of scary looking dragon with a mounted fire wizard.
The list I came up with is as follows-
(I am not fully convinced about the Bone Giant yet, but my SSC was easily disabled/destroyed in the games i have played thus far)
A unit of 19 Skeleton Warriors (HW/S) (SB + C) also containing my Tomb Prince
Lich Priest with CoD
5 Light Horsemen (No command)
3 Chariots (No command)
2 Tomb Swarms
I favor the playstyle of an army containing a BG over a SSC because it allows me to be more offensive in the movement phase. I could not afford light armor on my unit of skeletons while taking CoD on my Lich Priest (which i use and abuse regularly).
I would appreciate any comments about my list/general strategy vs these armies from TK perspective. This tournament is largely non competitive, but it would be nice to win a few games at least.
Thanks in advance!
Yo Chief! Welcome to Tomb Kings
If you dont want an SSC, thats cool I would however recommend a unit of 3 Ushabti over the Bone Giant. Generally far better, and worth their points.
Any thoughts on what youll arm your prince with?
Given you'll often face 3+ dispel dice, a secons priest is almost a must, even at the 1K level. Your magic must work.
As you cant afford LA (and i think bows are better anyway) Just have your Skellies as a unit of 19 bowmen + Full Command (maybe not Champ if points can be used better elsewhere)
Drop the 5 Light Cav/2 Swarms and look into a unit of 3 Carrion/extra Scorpion maybe?
I don't currently posses and Ushbati models or i would bring them for sure. To be honest i wasn't even aware bringing a second priest was legal shows you how much i know at this point. That would be amazing for facing the massive dispel pools that ive had problems with. I am also without a second scorpion or any carrion models, but i can purchase one or the other i suppose if it would improve my odds that drastically. Thanks for your help, ill toy with my list a little bit.
I worked in a second priest by dropping the LH and one of my swarms. My tentative list is as follows
19 bow skeles (C and SB ) with Tomb Prince
Lich priest with CoD
Second Lich Priest (couldn't afford another CoD) will keep him safe behind my lines
3 Chariot Unit (No Command)
I am now worried that my bolstered magic phase will leave me without the oomph i need to break through enemy lines. I plan to have a first or second turn magically assisted chariot charge and have my giant and scorpion charging by turn two or three (probably wont use ICFB most games). The swarm should be able to cover my rear and the opposite flank from my chariot charge, or possibly tie up a unit of archers for a turn.
Even if you had the points, you would be unable to take a second CoD. Its a magic item, so you can only have 1 per army.
Personally id lose the skellie Champ for a Musician, but overall it looks fine
