i have a question about using spera skellies,as everybody treats them as dump, but they erent so bad in my oppinion,in close combat then. you have double attacks in close combat and just i mins one grade on your armor save, and they are one point more costy, but they make at least some kills in close combat,i never kill anything with just 5 skellies, and i do kill with 10 skelles(A)
Might wanna run a spell checker over that feller...
The number of kills you make with 10 skellies as opposed to 5 will very rarely cancel out the extra 2 or 3 you lose from having the weaker armour save. Skellies are terrible in combat and are just there to hold up the enemy until something that actually hurts charges in the side.
In my opinion, spears have only come in handy when its used with Always Strike First, like High Elf spearmen, who also get to attack from an extra rank. 15 str 3 attacks coming before the charger can hurt. With TK, unless they charged you with a giant marshmallow, you probably won't have anyone left to fight back.
Skellies with spears and shield are the backbone of the army (as are the guys with hand weapon and shield). Get a nice juicy block of 40, protect their flanks and they'll never let you down.
My battle line looks like this.
Not one scorp in sight and no swarms...for me it's all about the skellies People understimate what 40 fear causing creatures can do to a unit. At least you'll hold the enemy in limbo for a few turns while they hack you to the very last skelly...put a prince in for some insurance if you want to
Unlike swordskellies we can fight back after getting hammered by flippin saurus warriors.
Skellies, either swear by 'em or swear at 'em
