My Chariots have spinners...
I make people suffer a long, grueling, shooting phase.
I mix it up with bits of both.
stole this thread idea from the Tau threads been reading into 40k a tad... so anyways how do YOU prefer to play your TK?
Do you Blot out the sun with your shooting phase?
or do your fast units play tag with enemy flanks?
In general i mix it up. Shoot away at the enemy, then if theres anything left () when they start to get near me, TK magic allows you to get the initiative on the charge too!
Mostly shooting, but i have chariots and stuff to do a bit of fancy footwork if the need arises.
I am going to be running an army led by a LHP that is quite defensive. I do have a unit of chariots with a tomb prince and some ushabti and tomb scorps for some offensive power.
but yeah, my army is definitly the "Drop skulls and arrows on them as they come to me" variety.
"I am the architect of fate!"
I love shooting and all but I need my scorpions, chariots and tomb guard in order to survive later in the game. So I'll go with mix it up. I think of my close range units as the airbag, and my magic as the insurance policy and my scorpions and chariots as the lawsuit!
Fully mobile for me. Ushabti are the slowest thing in my normal list, and I've been seriously contemplating dropping them for another unit of Carrion. I would have by now, if it weren't for my love of the models. They're one of the things that initially drew me to the army. Taking the fight to them is much more interesting. Tried playing defensively for a bit, but the games were dull and gruelling.
I really enjoy taking full advantage of our fantastic Incantation of Urgency. And there's little more fun than having a unit of Carrion and a few "It Came From Below" fiends disrupt a dwarven fire line just long enough to slam a King's unit of chariots into the side of it and drive on through.
It takes a lot of effort and luck to manage a victory, but it's more enjoyable that way.

I'm no veteran of TK but I love em, and the games I have played well.... Skeleton tarpits and flanking maneouvers. Those chariots can really do serious damage to the enemy's 'block' units if used well.
i love my ushabti as well... but i dont have any carrion yet so i still have space most of the time in my army for them.
but in general my army is i guess you could say, 40/60% shooting/melee. i usually dont play tomb guard cause i have to get used to not having them til i actually buy them, bnut i can't knock using spears on skeletons. <3 the magic phase prince telling skeletons to swing again can get nasty at points. But at 2250 i also am planning on playing a Lhp IB prince and LP. still very strong magic and i get my BSB bonuses.. it's worked in my relaxed games thus far i tried it.
But sometimes i can't help it... someone puts a big block out they been braggin bout and i just want to shove all my units into it at once.
Lhp IB prince and LP. Let me know how that configuration works out mate. I'm very interested to see how that kind of formation could shape up in a battle.
but yeah i will.
