Default The problem with Star Dragons

Ok, i cant SSC it to death because the prince's dragon armour protects it from fire (beardy), and its ld is too high to be basketed.

so short of challenging it out with a champion in a skelly unit, or ushabti-ing it or flail of skull-ing it and praying i get lucky, how on earth am i supposed to handle the thing?

ok this is going to sound weird but have you tried flinging a tomb scorpion or 2 at it with magic assisted charges? the Killingblow and poison should give you a decent chance at taking it out (the rider that is). otherwise just try to get as much CR on it as you can things like that tend to fail when exposed to too much Resolution and with some luck you can break it and chase it DOWN!

other then that it's like a lot of those things out there (Steamtank/ Treeman/ Big DeamonS) try to ignore it and go for the rest of his army

Cheers CJ

Yup, im afraid you have been beaten by the idiocy of GW... Their ruling (although i dont think its even official, i think its just in the idiots FAQs) on that armour is completely redicilous...

Not a lot you can do im afraid. Charge with a Scorp and hope for a KB on the rider is about the best you can do, but youll need a lot of magic and luck to pull that off in general.

i dont think that the magicking stuff will be too much of a problem. it just getting to it before it gets to the basket. if its on a hill and it has a unit of skeletons directly in front of it, if the dragons base is too big to fit on the hill infront of the basket without touching the skels can it still charge it? or wil it count as a failed charge? or will it prevent it from charging in the first place?

If it cant fit then it cant charge It will need to make its way around to the flank or rear instead..

If you really wanna get annoying, take a unit of 5 scarab swarms and encircle your casket and/or SSC with them

I play both TK and HE, and my HE fear the SSCs still.

Remember, the Dragon Armour does *not* extend immunity to flaming attacks to the Dragon. If you can put D6 wounds on the Dragon with no armour saves, it goes down.

Once the Prince is off the dragon, he's not longer a threat.

Ahh if only it was that simple... By the FAQ, "if a model (or its mount) is equipped with Dragon Armour ..."

Though it depends how you read it, as far as i have heard in the past the intention is that the mount is also immune.

Broken no?

hey i just read the faq and it say nothing about conferring the fire immunity to the mount. it has something about them ignoring cannon shots if they are flaming but it says nothing about the mount

Pretty much the same thing. As far as i am aware by GWs rulings, a model and its mount with Dragon Armour are completely immune to all effects of all fire based attacks, or attacks with a fire element to them.

Of course, most people that i've spoken to seem happy to ignore the idiots that wrote the HE book and are happy to play using common sense

Bowling

Hehe, I've been through that challenge alot of times too Here is what I use to do:
  1. Spam the Rider with Scorps.
  2. Spam the Dragon with Tomb Swarms (Many poisoned attacks = looooove <333)
  3. Try to make a charge with the TGs... Then I assist the unit with Shabs.
  4. Pepper the unit with Screaming Skulls
That is a few examples of what to do, when the over-prized (there is TOO much points in one model over there, if he is killed - the match is over, hehe ) Dragon tend to enter the Battlefield.

Hope It Helps!
