Well simple question how many chariots do most of you guys run in your units? I've been thinking of running 2 units of 4 but they seem abit wide, is it better to drop them to 3's but run 3 units of 3? opinions?
...I don't understand the question
Oh wait, you mean how many chariots in each unit
Always at least 4, those things are fragile and even with 3 wounds you'll probably lose one before they make combat. In my lists 4 is pretty much standard, although I've been known to run units of 6 as a bodyguard unit for a King.
I typically stick with the traditional 3 per unit, 4 gets too wide for me. Two units of 3 works well IMO, but hey an extra chariot each is fine as long as you dont clip any trees.
Also, no such thing as too many chariots in an army.
I run 2 units of 3 in my general list. Only ever add banners if i run 4 or 3 + Character. Id never (recommend) go above 4 per unit, any wider can be hard to handle and rear ranks are a waste.
I run two units of four as well.
I find that if I use them in threes then they tend to have their bums kicked by missile fire before they can do the business and invariably fail to break my opponent on the charge (obviously this is turbo death for chariots). Units of four allow me a little room for error since I can take a few hits and still be effective when it counts.
Because Sun Tzu would play Tomb Kings...
I also run with two units of 3 chariots but i am probably gunna use 4 since they get shoot down by missle weapons just like Vallah said. Depends on what you fight for me i vs alot of teams with range so i get trampled over with 3.

I usually play my Chariots in Units of 3 or 4 depending on their purpose... Oh sorry, haha I always run them in units of three, 'cause when you see four in a Unit in my Army it is joined by a Chariot TP or TK
They are pretty easy to maneuvre since they are FAST CAV!

WiP TK Army!
Normally I have two units of three and a Prince joins one unit with his chariot of fire and then sometimes that unit buys a standard bearer and takes the +1 to hit banner.
War Record Since Sept 2005
Old Codex 48-20-9 Dark Eldar
New Codex 1-0-0 Dark Eldar
I experimented with a large unit of chariots 7 plus a TP.
I have to agree with the masses 4 is optimum.
Finally getting round to finshing my Tallarn Imperial Guard Army (2K)

i use 2 units of 3 with a character in each unit and theyve been working a treat. with no character id always g 4 wide. if theres no room for them they can always deploy deep as theyre fast cav
