Urm I was looking at the models for the tomb swarm and sadly they don't inspire me, they kind of lack the knock me over effect, I look at them a sadly I'm not left thinking "ugly undead fearsome swarm" - Look Out! - More, Urm ... "Well its a marker, you know what it is...Don't you".
So I was wondering...
If I got a Couple of Locusts, A Beatle or two a Grub (From a petstore) Kill em, possibly let them dry out a bit, then encased them in a huge blob of PVA glue...
Threw in a few left over limbs from my Models.
Would it make for a good DIY - Tomb Swarm...
And if so...
A - How well would it survive?
B -How cool would it look?
C -Would it incur the wrath of do good hippies saying its just cruel and barbaric! ?
Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently motivated fool...
Nothing is idiot proof, idiots are too ingenious...
Answer A: It depends on how you're gonna kill it but im not the best person to ask this
Answer B: I think theyed look a bit too big since a tomb swarm is a bunch of tiny insects crawling about.
Answer C: Yes. Yes you would
when a vampire bites you, its not out of love
What a cool idea.
The GW tomb swarms do kinda suck don't they? I originally considered doing a 'Ten plagues of Egypt' type theme on my swarms but the locust swarm was one of the things that held me back to be honest (well, that and 'boils and sores'). It never actually occoured to me to use actual locusts though...
A. You would probably get away with it if they were covered with PVA and/or varnish. I would also be tempted to add something to the base that stands proud over the beasties to 'take the hit' when the base got knocked over etc -maybe a tomb stone or something?
B. Obviously the scale would be way off but who's to say you couldn't have giant locusts? I think it could look really cool (and I'd certainly like to see a few pics if you go ahead with this).
C. Who cares? You could always use free range locusts for this project. You know, ones that had led a rich, full life and such. I dare say you could get hold of some that were already dead if this is an issue (failing that you could just lie -LOL).
I say go for it! Even if it doesn't turn out as well as you hoped they could hardly be worse than the GW ones could they?
Because Sun Tzu would play Tomb Kings...
crazy i am with you. the tomb swarms from GW dont look all that appealing nor do they look all that difficult to make. i am in the process of making my own, the one thing during this time of year which can help you out is that halloween is right around the corner. If you have any Halloween or craft stores around your area i would visit them and check the Halloween section. I went to my craft store and picked up a small package of skull piles and added those to my swarms. i'll post up some pictures when i am done. I am currently searching stores for some small fake bugs.. spiders and scorpions preferred.
Tutumra, Prince of Zandri. Long live the Dead.
Hehe, sounds awesome Be sure to post pics!
A ) quite well i imagine, B ) cool, i imagine, C ) probably, yes, but worth it... i imagine
Be sure to give it a shot! Very good idea...
*Evil smile* I could steal the idea, hehe *Big Evil Smile*
I thought swarms were more than one creature? :p
Looks like you've had a lot of fun making them!
