Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi, I have been wondering a tactic. It might not sound viable though so i would like to discuss if anybody has tried them and receive some input. If you have been following my battle report, you would have known that I am playing in a league of extraordinary cheese. I have finished my third game and will be playing Daemons of Chaos for the fourth where the scenario is dawn attack from the throne of skulls scenarios.
In this scenario, we will be forced to split our unit deployment. As you tomb king generals has known, Tomb King relied heavily on formation where we can support each unit with our will be done and incantation. This scenario will hurt my army a lot. But my biggest concern will be my ushabtis. If they wondered too far from my focused deployment zone, they will be a slow moving hammers which likely be destroyed before they can do anything. So i am wondering if I put my mounted liche priest into the ushabti unit, will this be helpful to the ushabtis? I committed one priest solely for the ushabti and M8 wont hinder ushabti's movement at all. Anybody has tried this setup?
BTW, any advice is welcome on how to take down daemon army with TK. My army is as the following :
Tomb King, DoE, CoS
Tomb Prince, sh, la, chariot, Sword of Might, Chariot of Fire
Hierophant, mounted, Hieratic Jar, Dispel Scrol
Liche Priest, Casket, 2 Dispel Scrol
5 Chariot, std, warbanner
10 Skeleton Bowmen
2 Tomb Swarm
22 Tomb Guard, std, chmp, Icon of Rakaph
2 Tomb Scorpion
I will be fighting against this kind of daemon (rough list) :
Bloodthirster, Immortal Fury, Firestorm Blade, Obsidian Armor
Herarld of Tzeentch
15 Bloodletter, FC
15 Bloodletter, FC
15+ Horrors, FC
5 Hounds of Khorne
5 Hounds of Khorne
My strategy so far sounded like this : SSC will be targeting Bloodthirster. Duo scorpion will try to hit one unit of flamers. Chariot will try to annihilate hounds of khorne in one charge. Tomb Guard will try to hold bloodletters. Ushabtis will try to hit bloodthirster or hounds of khorne. This one, i dont have the confidence of winning the combat.
Comments are very welcome. Thanx.
Chariots are better used against the blocks of daemons hit them in the flank and u will be fine.
Aiming a catapult on the bloodthirster and some luck should see it badly hurt.
Your right about the flamers and the tomb scorpions or the scorpions could kill skulltaker.
Use tomb guard to kill the dogs because they (and the king) have killing blow and as the dogs are US2 they are not immune.
Im afraid ushabti arn't very good against daemons, but u can put a mounted liche priest in there its a liable tatic.
Use swarms to take down wandering wizards do not use them against the masque.
And why is ur chariot unit so big?
I thought people has seen no chance of TK fighting against Daemon so nobody is giving a comment.
@ Undivided : Why the big chariot unit? 1. I get "Look out sir" against canons and stonethrowers that autokills my chariot. 2. I will break the enemy on the charge by huge fear causing unit. US19 if you count everything on the unit. With impact hits and everything, good chance that i will outnumber my enemy so the enemy has to try insane courage break test. But it just dont work against ITPs.
Hmm i would never take 5 but its your army do what u want =P
I beat a keeper of secrets -1 million ld army on thursday. Its really annoying and hard but u have to like sit back and just bide ur time. Kill the bloodthirster ASAP once that is dead u should be ok.
Tomb Kings can win againsts daemons its just really hard and u need some luck and good rolls! Good luck =P
Indeed, the Bloodthirster is your main problem I would either try to trap it with a unit of Skellie Bowmen or a unit of TG. Make sure you have a Champion in each of these block regs, just in case the Bloodthirster would go up for a combat. I would like to see each on of tese units above 20, fielded in a 5x4 square and with an unfinished rank that should make the 5x5 square.
If you got this, he may be less of a trouble. If the Bloodthirster doesn't come, FINE! Smile! If he comes, just tie him up in any one of these two units - preferably the Skellie Bowmen. Do a challenge with the Champion. Now, the Bloodthirster will only be able to KILL one model in the unit. It will be an overkill score of 5, most of the times. So, one model + overkill 5 is 6 CR score. I would like to see 3 ranks, one banner and outnumbering which makes up for a total of 5. All in all, the HUGE monster will only kill two skellie Bowmen worth 16 pts this turn.
But how do you do next turn? It's simple. Make sure you got some Priests close to the unit. Use Djedra's Incantation of Summoning to reanimate the Champion and the other unlucky skeleton that didn't make it through the day. Do the same this turn. Tie him up. It's hell lot of points spent on this model, and you cannot possibly kill it without luck. So, just make sure you win against the rest of the army, and you will have the victory in your palm!
