Hello, I've been collecting GW models for a very long time and I've never got an army over 500 points so far. I mostly just buy models to paint them. I've decided that I'd like to try out actually playing an Army.
I chose Tomb Kings as they look the best! I'm just wanting to know how to play so I'm not too frustrated, I'll mostly just play friendly games with my brother.
I have no Tomb Kings models at the moment but I have been lurking in this little slice of LO for a while and basically I have a few questions.
I read that the best make-up for the Battalion is:
19 HW+S Skellies - Character goes in here?
10 Bow Skellies
3 chariots without command
I'm planning on buying the Battalion and the Tomb Prince with Great weapon. I know that I need a Hierophant but I don't much like the Liche priest model. I'm not sure about the WYSIWYG rules and how strict they must be so I was wondering if I could use the High Queen Khalida model as my Hierophant using normal Liche Priest rules?
I'm also wondering if for my mounted Liche Priest, which I gather is a very useful thing to have, how many Light Horsemen should go with him when I use him? The recommended make-up is six but I think I should use 5 plus a Liche Priest seven plus a Liche Priest. Or was the unit of six LH small for points saving and just a unit for harrassing...I'm so confused...
Sorry, rambling on a bit...
Basically the TL;DR is:
Can I use the Khalida Model as a normal Liche Priest?
Is the larger unit of Skeletons the sponge that my Tomb Prince attaches to and fights with in smaller games?
Can anybody please explain the role of Light Horsemen and Mounted Lichepriests?
And why have no command on the chariots?
Thank you in advance TK Gurus!
Again, thank you!
Khalida - I would have no problem as long as it's explained to me what the model represents.
Light horsemen are mainly there to die for the Liche Priest who can be a bit more mobile on a steed.
You'd only put a LP on a horse if you don't have a cloak of the dunes to give him. If you do have to put one on a horse, you want to put him in a unit of light horse to give him a "look out, sir" save. The shooting they provide is an extremely inefficient use of points, so protecting a priest is the only reasonable purpose in taking one. Don't put command on chariots because they're actually pretty fragile, the command upgrades are really expensive, and you especially don't want to give away a hundred victory points for losing a banner. Definitely put the prince in the larger unit of stock skellies...but I wouldn't bother with the shields. A huge number of different things will bypass the save entirely, and who cares about casualties when you can resurrect skellies in the magic phase? Better to use the points on more skellies than on shields.

If I was to answer your questions, it would be much like Marnepup's post. In addition, yeah - As long as you're opponent thinks it's ok, you can use the Khalida model as a Priest.
