Welcome to Librarium Online!
I realized (as I started a Tomb Kings army recently) that the Tomb Kings rulebook was created in 2002. 2002! 8 years- that's longer than many good wargames have existed. So my question/concern is- will they continue to be supported? And is there any imminent update for their codex that people know of?
Either way I will still play them- they are totally awesome. But I am just sad that it has been so utterly long since their rules were released (and with zero new codexes since then for them, that's kind of daunting)
There will be a new army book. It is rumoured to be released in October
Awesome. Thank you for the reply, Nagash. I am happy to hear that there is rumor of them getting an updated codex. Very happy indeed
The problem is that the recession has slowed progress in the UK as its already expensive. The models are as you said very old and all models will need to be redone. As almighty Nagash said this might be done in October.
Ooh! If it is October I know what my boyfriend will be getting me for my birthday
Until recently there were four armies that are one their first (true) armybook - Daemons are on their first separate armybook/codex, Ogres are on their first and are as old as Tomb Kings (I believe, can't find their book at the moment!) Tomb Kings before Tomb Kings were Undead - and look how they took Vampies! Beastmen are onto their second book now and a few people were despairing they would never be redone too (some are now despairing they WERE redone, but that's beside the point...)
Only armies I can think of that have officially lost support (for now) are Kislev, Chaos Dwarves and Fimir, a couple of other 'races' were allies or Dogs of War that no longer appear. Dogs of War and Chaos Dwarves are allegedly expecting new Armybooks with a time frame of three plus years.
Fantasy: Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Beastmen and Tomb Kings.
LotR: Misty Mountains and Rohan
Books who's most recent release is their 6th ed edition:
Tomb Kings (Jan 2003)
Bretonnia (Feb 2004)
Ogre Kingdoms (Jan 2005)
Wood Elves (Aug 2005)
Dwarves (Mar 2006)
Well the "Tomb Kings" army realy doesn't fit into the 8th edition.
On 2000 points we could take 2 high priests, 2 priests and a prince. That means 17 dice of bound spells, while our opponent only got d6 dice to dispel them. It is impossible to defeat such a powerfull magic list in 8th edition, and 0n 4000 points we can get 35 dice while our opponent is still with only d6 dispel dice.
Wrong. We'd get 2D6 power dice. And get to roll a D6 for each LP/HLP before the game and probably for each king or prince, too...on each of those "extra" D6s, we get one extra PD IFANDOLYIF we roll a 6, but only up to a limit of 12 total PD.

TKs don't have a power dice pool!
The Incantation chosen is automatically cast. You still roll dice though. If it is a priest, you roll 2D6. That's what the opposing player uses for trying to dispel. If it is a High Priest, you roll 3D6. The spell will automatically be cast regardless of what you roll, unless they dispel it. Also, you cannot miscast. And there is no irresistable force for TKs
