Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hola TK folks,
I will be playing my first game of 8th edition next week with my TK army. Any suggestions on how to kit out my liches/prince/king? It will be a 2000pt game, and I will be taking some Tomb Guard, scorpions, skeletons on foot with bows/hand weapons + shields.
So, 500pts available for Heroes and 500pts available for lords. Any suggestions?

Try the model you like, and after the game think about waht worked and what didn't...
Going more specific, I think that you will HAVE to take must of the core in that list (20 archers, 20 skeletons and 3 tomb swarms) to reach the 500points minimum.
After decide if you wanna take a tomb king or a high liche priest...if you take the second one, put him on the casket of soul and give him some protection.
Then, you should take 2 Scorpions or the SSC. Take 20 Tomb Guard and/or the 4 Ushabti(in 2X2 formation).
With the remaining points, choose your heroes, BG and/or chariots.
Hope to have been helpfull...good luck with the game!!!
Hi Shavenrat. Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I will go with 20 archers, 20 skeletons w/hand weapons, some tomb swarms, 2 scorpions, tomb guard, and ushabti if i can fit them in.
The rest will get spent on lords/heroes. Now I just need to figure out how to fit that in point-wise
I've read plenty about 7th edition equipment combos. Now I just need to consider whether any of the new common 8th edition items are good to take. Hmmm
Oh, and my vote for core choices at 2000 points is 60 skellies...either 60 bowmen or 30 each bowmen and sword/board. If you go with the 30 melee guys, they should have full command with BotUL, and that'll put you over the 500 point minimum. The accompanying 30 bowmen could be a block of 30 or 3 blocks of 10. If OTOH you go with 60 bowmen, I'd definitely go with a block of 30 with FC and BotUL, and 3 blocks of 10 (5x2 is very compact)

I'm still scared to put my heiro on the casket. As if the casket and heiro by themselves weren't enough of targets. Putting them together just makes it more convenient for my oppenent to kill both my casket and heiro in one shot .
I don't think the cloak got super nerfed. 10" is still enough to let the heiro get away from imminent danger; there is no 20" move for the heiro with the cloak anymore as we can't march. And, there is no change with the flying charge on the cloak; the rule in the army book still says you can't do a flying charge with the cloak
Additionally, it has a 6+ Armor Save and should have at least a 4+ Ward and/or the 4+ save afforded by the Collar of Shapesh. If I'm reading these rules correctly, it would seem that the Casket of Souls has become a fairly safe place to plop your Hierophant. My only issue, assuming my interpretation is correct, is the prohibitive point cost of fielding a Casket Priest below 2500 points. You'd almost need a supplemental, mobile Priest to be in key places to cast an Incantation when needed and that's when point costs for these otherwise overpriced characters start carrying over into the absurd.
Yeah, I forgot about that whole T10 thing. I was aware of the 4/5 W thing, but the T10 totally slipped my mind when reading the FAQ.
The T10 is awesome!!! In the last game the opposite mage (with light spells) tried to kill my casket...
The few 6 to wound were saved with the 4+ ward save!!!
I also think that LP are not so good anymore...I would take a tomb prince anytime, as it's the same difficult for the enemy to dispel it (usually with 3+)...the only things that are bothering me are the shorter spell range (of tomb prince/king) and no spell to replenish the troops...
I'm with you on Liche Priests, although trying to put a High Liche Priest on a Casket of Souls at 2k (where my group usually plays) is an oppressive notion. I can do it, and it ends up being a variant of my old Twin Prince list anyway. Only that second Priest would be replaced by...wait for it...
THE ICON BEARER!
It also means I have to waste points on more Skeletons...which if you know me, you know I HATE doing. The old list worked though, in spite of the FAILetons. In fact, my gaming group were discussing 8E after our last D&D session (yes, I'm a nerd). And they were all like, "Good thing you're good at winning games in spite of those pieces of crap or you'd be screwed."

BTW guys your crew + LP/HLP does NOT have T10......that would be soooo cheap. I see the misunderstanding, because I thought it was true for a bit but reread the rulebook.
From the book, "The toughness of the war machine is used against ranged attacks, and the majority toughness of the crew is used for close combat attacks."
Though with "the majority toughness", I am to believe our LP gets T4 like the casket guard. Better than nothing.
